I see you through your own eyes
Subject, I am of thee, my Ruler
I fear thee, I love thee, I hate thee
And I wonder what it is to be thee

I am. I AM, and this land exists
and is defined by me
and could be defiled by me
or deified - such is the choice

of myriad destinies coursing through one life
this life, that holds your destinies surging through my hands
My Royal Will containing all your inchoate energies
Directing it to the Goal of mine choice

(Yet in my mind, deep, mocking
I hear that sneer that calls:
"Rulers are just as puppets to Fate
And they shall, in due time, fall!)

I reign, and daily from my throne
I ponder: weather, weal, woe
Magic and Might, sword and Mage-Staff
And last night's dinner, was that enchanted?

The ambition of peasant and Duke,
The greed of thief and Merchant
The Lore of Adventurer and Mage
The tales of Traveller and Stranger -

All reflected in this land, in me,
All reflected in this mind that rules
All reflected in the heart of a Kingdom
The Throne's a mirror of men's hearts.
 You're not worried about giving these thoughts to Project Leaders?
AS IF they weren't already there! :lmao:

Seriously, though...

I was thinking - what about the ruling clans of Tamriel? What must THEY think, being the focus of many (if not every) hope, desire, and ambition in Tamriel? This poem is an attempt to bring out the thoughts that must be going through rulers in Tamriel.

Those more knowledgeable than me in the Lore should make comments and criticisms, for which I shall be deeply thankful.
Obviously that's the setting. But it works elsewhere - that's the litmus test = the reality is true. The rest is irrelevant because this is true poetry, rather than history, and you gain the power of 'poetic license.'

Either people like it or they do not. but they can have no substantial reason to justify altering it unless you want it to be a functional part of a quest.

I think that you are heading for a 'poetry book.'

Consider: poets always distort history to make their points - as a cat can look at a queen. To be recognised as poetry by a poet in his own right you write poetry. To be recognised as a court poet you kiss a... Either way what is true? Maybe the one writes up history, but the other makes it. Which do you want to be?
Merged into the "collated book of Mystic poetry".
