A new concept that is developing from things that people are currently working on.

I will be looking at creating a claims system so that when people come up with storeys and descriptions of NPCs their ideas can be clearly identified by modellers who can then claim them and use them in connection with their locations and quests.

This should facilitate a process that allows the good stuff to circulate and enrich the areas it would not otherwise reach.

Not to worry if stuff is not sleek and finished - the raw feel is what is required to start ideas...

and :goodjob: the stuff that is coming in. :]

--------------------
Be aware that there are lots of different kinds of stories and literature, that they have to be treated in different ways according to their natures, for example:

Much of the work in Lit Dev is history connected so it will not usually or automatically be 'polished up' or otherwise worked on for the moment - I hope that the authors understand that it is enough that they are 'making history,' and will continue to submit concepts, thoughts and works while we all absorbe enough of Ob and put together further structures in ST in the light of which to assess such fundamental lore...before implementing.

-------------------

What we are aiming for is 'critical mass' - this is where we have so many ideas and so much material that the stories almost start to decide for themselves where we are going - now where has my apprentice got to, and what was that sloshing sound coming from the basement? Wink

-------------------

If you have thoughts on this, please enter them in this thread.
So someone makes a quest idea, than they submit it and someone who wants to implement the quest claims it? Thats a good idea.
ty. It's optional right? People have the right to develope their own quests, but if they are idea and literature specialists then this way they get to offer up alternatives for the graphic specialists to work from.

Some graphic specialist/quest developers will want to take away a package to work on separately, others will prefer to invite his/her favorite author or story writer to work directly with him/her on the basis of such story postings.

Also there is a point where ideas for quests are more story than quest, but once past that with the quest dev involved they should benrefit from going via Editor's Corner to Quest Developement, because at this point they are getting ready to go into the game active structure of our mod.

This does not prevent people from posting in Quest Developement directly, just that if all works out they should find that this way they will be better integrated with other things that are going on.
That's a great idea. Just because someone is doing world building doesn't mean they want to create stories and quests (although, I like to Wink ). I think a quest/NPC claim system would work quite well. As world builders create areas and NPCs that they don't want to handle quest and backstory creation on, they can post the info with screenshots to be claimed by someone else. Then the two can work together, one writing, one implementing.
As soon as I find the time and as soon as I get myself better acquainted with the CS I'll set up the quest system for Silgrad Tower.

So much for now ... as much as any idea and suggestion is appreciated, each and every quest proposal will go through a core vote, but as I said the full detailed system will come ... soon. Big Grin

Greetings

Great to work with folks who are enthusiastic Q. I hope the structure that I have begun here will complement that, so that ideas can begin and/or be expanded a bit here and in Editor's Corner (where you and Raz have access obviously) before going to Quest Developement for the treatment and approval there.

Once your actual core approval (hopefully with further recommendations and ideas) is given they can then go into full developement.

The idea is that often modellers are almost fully focussed on their graphic depictions and the technical aspects thereof so that when they have good ideas they often neglect to bring them on apace. By creating a link between Lit Dev I hope to provide support so that their inspirations do not become lost and can connect up with other stuff that is ongoing in a general way.

I don't want or expect this to to happen with absolutely every quest, as some quests should have a 'set apart' feel.
My writing skills are quite good, I could write some books, quests and stuff, but I'm not too good with the CS, I can make exteriors, but thats that. I could have some use for idea where you need some quests.
Still waiting for your books Magus - just bung em in...
