So, I was thinking that the desert would be more interesting with Dwemer ruins. However, would it be in accordance with the lore? What do other people think of this idea?
No it wouldn't comply with lore. There are only Dwemer ruins in Morrowind and a few in Hammerfell (i.e. The Dwemer Orrery in Stros M'kai). The only reason there are a few in Hammerfell was because the Rourkin clan refused to ally themselves with the Chimer during the first era Nord invasion.
So, what kind of ruins would be found in Elsweyr? Probably ancient Khajiit burial sites and temples or something... Actually that's not a bad idea...
The way I envisioned it was, you walk along th sand, no structures in sight, the distance blurre, when you turn around, and realize you just walked OVER a ruin, without releazing it, because it islmost entirely beneath the sand.
Well, that seems alright, but still may need some indications to these places. Maybe some hills or something with a large structure coming out the middle?

Has anybody else here played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? Remember that desert level, and the sand storm crossing the desert to the Spirit Temple, now THAT was incredibly well done...
It was pretty good, but nothing we could use for this mod, since we'll have a free roam desert, and that was just a limited area.

The ruin idea is good though.

maybe part of a long-lost Khajiiti civilization? now inhabited by Khajiiti monks who try to discover more about the lost civilization, practice a sort of Nature-worship/Azura-Cult religion, and are masters of hand-to-hand combat... ?
Hmm... Yes, those do look good. I'd be careful about modelling anything after history these days, or anything religious for that matter, but I DO like the architecture. Maybe I'll make a model or two and see how they look?
A tad more egyptian, and a tad shorter, but those are good!
I like the windows in particular (the arch shape ones), they'll be good for theme I think.
