Ever wanted to be an editor? - Join Lit Dev. We start with the written word.

It starts with proof-reading, graduates to grammar and even context.

We have strict standards generally as we work with other people's property and where possible offer our services freely to any affiliated mod that accepts our rules (spoken and unspoken).

You want to know more, sign here.
Every once in a while, I guess I'll be able to help with this... So, sure, I might as well sign up (keep my rank intact)
We don't mess with ranks here ID, what we do is award academic accolades that you can add to your sig (at the bottom of each post) or whatever if you are proud of them, or they can be hidden away in the back of your cupboard if not! Either way, all quality contributions are appreciated.

I suppose I got my 'anomolous' title because the service I was proposing is quite unusual in modding - I didn't actually expect it, but I find it suits me and the work I do here perfectly, as my role is specialised, and I would not want to change it for either a grander or lesser.

If anyone wanted to formally adopt their academic accolades as a rank they would have to discuss that with Razorwing. K?
nope, but I'll write stories for you guys to review! Big Grin
I dunno what is the tougher job... hmmm... Rolleyes
well whats the job?
No worries KKA, your contributions are greatly valued.

The tuffer job depends on the nature and quality of the original contribution. Some pieces just fit in immediately no matter what, others take longer to place and have to be adjusted as the in-game Lore that we create demands, or if the author is not a natural English speaker. If it is a great idea from a non-natural English speaker or if the writing style does not hit the spot, then the job can become really tuff.

And there's more KKA... Confusedhrug:
Hello, I'd like to volunteer. Ideally, I'd prefer to work on a job-by-job basis: when you have something you need edited, contact me and let me know what it is and when you want it done, and so long as I am sure I can meet the deadline I'll agree to do it.

I'll start looking around this site to get a feel for everything that's being worked on and read up on all Reich Parkeep/Silgrad background, and if there is anything in particular you'd like to draw my attention to please do so.

Qualifications: I am not only a native speaker of English, but I also have a Master's Degree in English and worked on a PhD in English all the way up to and partway through my dissertation, which came to a grinding halt a few years ago Wink I've taught Rhetoric and Composition at Texas A&M University, and I did some copyediting for a national Jewish cultural magazine way back when I was an undergrad. So, I think I can probably do a good job Big Grin

Now, the only issue with me is that I do not have Oblivion yet, and probably have to run it with Oldblivion as my video card is just a little too old to run it staright out of the box. So, I will probably need to edit text before it is actually put into a mod. (On that subject, if anyone has any good ideas on how to get a REALLY inexpensive video card that is up to Oblivion's standards, I'd really like to hear about it.)

My modding email address is Gren.gk -AT- gmail -DOT- com; you can reach me there or PM me here.

I am so excited about this mod that despite the fact I won't be able to play it for some time, I want to contribute to it. Thanks for providing a way that I can do so!

Hey Gren, and Welcome to Silgrad Tower!

Anyway, have a look around, you'll be amazed at this project, and also some of the English language used here (hehe). Anyways, we've already got some of our own texts (on this board) and maybe some written dialogue too. So check this stuff out if you want, and again, welcome!
:bounce:  :bounce: huge welcomes to Lit Dev and ST Gren! Sounds like you will have lots of fun here... and we seem to be in the same low-end comp access boat - so no worries there. Peop;e can easilt post here in a format that we can access. Whether they do or need to or not depends on the work they are doing...

At the moment I am taking the finishing pieces part gently (drives Razorwing up the wall Wink ) because I want folks to just bung in ideas for Lit in brainstorming mode to be brought into a cohesive structure with apppropriate variation for now, and concentrate on getting a clear idea of the past and how it can translate into the future in their claims and quests.

Interrupted there...however, if you want you can always start by editing any storey that you feel needs it by posting your 'take' in the thread. For one thing your choice of storey will tell me something about you, and I will get a feel for your style. Then when it comes to suggesting pieces I will know how you work and have some idea which kinds of work your talents can be best applied to.

If you have read the Morrowind and Daggerfall books you will understand that different in-game authors have different approaches to writing and writing styles are very important. So choose a few, and lets see what you are comfortable with...
