[1st]W[/1st]hen you upload images to the gallery, you can choose to upload either to a public album, or a private album. After you upload an image to a public album, you no longer have any control over it, so make sure you enter all the information correctly from the start. If you upload to a private album, you have full control over the images.

Here's how to upload to a private album.

Register or login to gallery.silgrad.com. Whether you've registered on this forum or not doesn't matter in this case, you'll need to register there anyway, but that's done in like thirty seconds Tongue

After you've logged in, you'll see three choices below the language and template drop-down lists. Click the link highlighted in the screenshot ("Create/order my albums"), and you'll be taken to the album administration page. As you don't have any private albums, there aren't any in the list window yet, but we'll add one now.

Click the button named "New" and an entry pops into the list window called "New album". You'll see the same name in the textobx below the big list window, and as you change the text in the textbox, the name of the album changes in the list window. Feel free to add as many as you want, and use the arrows to sort them up and down. The next step is very important: don't forget to click the "Apply modifications" button after you're done! If you leave the page without clicking it, the information you entered will be gone.

It's a good idea if you sort the album you think you'll upload the most to at the top of the list in the list window, as that album will be the default choice when you select which album to assign the picture to. With Coppermine you have to select an album for each picture you upload, so if you're uploading ten pictures, you have to find that album in the drop-down list for all ten pictures. If you put your main album at the top, it will be easier for you.

Now click the upload link, found at the top of the left sidebar on the gallery pages. You'll notice that the private album(s) you created are listed at the top, with the public albums below. In other words, this is where you make the choice to upload either to a public or private album. In the example screenshot, one private album named "The Woodland Veil" has been created, and as you can see the one private album is the default choice when assigning the image to an album. You could have named your album simply "My pics" and never have to worry about assigning them anywhere.

Then just enter the information for the picture as you see fit, and click the "Continue" button. You'll get a confirmation that the information was entered successfully.

You have successfully placed all the files.

Go back to the main gallery page and scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the "User Galleries" link.

Now you'll see your user gallery, as well as other users' galleries. Our example user "kalikut" has one album and one image. Find your own user folder among the ones listed on this page, and click the thumbnail for it. As the example is the first ever user pic uploaded, the "random files" and "latest uploads" are rather empty at the moment.

Now you'll see your private albums. In the example, there's just one one album. If you click the middle icon, the one that looks like an "i" on a paper, you can change the settings for the album itself. If you click the right icon, the one that looks like a pen and paper, you can change the information for the images in that album.

You can't screw anything up by experimenting, so go ahead and do that if you feel uncertain of how it works. And happy uploading Smile
