Howdy

Since not much else is going on at this time

I thought we could go ahead and start this project (Exterior and Interiors)

The location needs to be outside of the city walls but not far, it would be way too much work to try and re-arrange the city to fit a university in it

Also their are not many terrain friendly areas except the northeast section on the road toward Deepen Moor

Suggestions are welcome as to possible locations

Thanks
Bob
I like this idea. Smile

What's the architecture?
Hlaalu?

Thats a very good question.

I would say yes

Unless I am completely off, I do not think that the University existed prior to the Hlaalu Building Contract

But it could be Redoran ? I think we should stick with the buildings of the time Hlaalu

Bob

Edit: Additonally as indicated in a previous post I wanted to have 2 Schools

School of Magic, specializing in Alchemy
School of Chivalry, for the Knight Orders

In the case with the School of Chivalry I got to thinking about the relationship with Morrowind and I think it might be a good idea to add this school as a requirement to advance in the fighters guild as well, the mages guild requires having a wizard staff to advance to wizard, why not require formal training at the school for fighters to advance to rank "Defender" or "Champion"

Basically saying we would need to add the necessary scripting and dialogue for a fighters guild member. To advance they must complete training at the U of S

Bob
If the School of Chivalry has its roots in the dunmer society the building might be redoran.
hrnnn hermmm - hope you are not forgetting the Faculties of Literature (knightly - as in courtesy) and Botany (Alchymical natch) , also that the Dean is a somewhat shady (as in mysteriously appears and disappears from or to unspecified locations - this process ... = usually accompanied by the sound of 3 footsteps... and no other warning, 'cept poss' the cheshire cat grin) character with an enormous grey beard, mustaches and sideboards = the lot almost burying his face and chest. Known to the Faculty generally as raggidman on account of the tattered black professorial gown that he always wears - I will send you an appropriate photo (with permission) that you may use - and famous for the magnificent conventions that he hosts (including the one with the 16 delicious young ladies in his beard  )

hmmm - Rincewind? didn't you get sent off on a mission to the rim with your luggage? Good to see an old alumni taking an interest... and don't run off agin, there is a job here just for you - it won't be dangerous, promise.

location - suggest well away from the City itself maybe very near the dangerous Forest? Why? Loads more opportunities for strange events, and the fun journeys for alumni, staff and students to and from the City...

to be continued...

architecture: the original proposal for a University was to bring together small academic factions to string together characters in other mods (remember JKJ's academic in Elsweyr) etc.

So who might do this and why?

Which factions? - seems the Indoril have a love of learning - and in TES4 Vvardenfell they will be due for a hiding, with loads of them seeking sanctuary - could be there was a smart bunch of academics in TES3 saw the writing on the wall and got together with a power group to prepare a bolt hole for themselves where they thought they might be safe...

Now what if they viewed their safety as being enhanced by connection with other factions not just in Morrowind, but all over the Empire?

What this might eventually create is a campus with multi-ethnic architecture. In TES4.

TES3 might show the start of this process = an appropriate teaser and creating such a link to later events should enhance interest in both.

Thus TES3 would create the nucleous through our hero, the Nerevarine's questing on behalf of Indoril (Nerevar's House) - maybe when in TES4 he goes to Akavir it is on an academic Quest Wink - his questing might entail contacting academic groups and persuading them to take part, and escorting groups that arrive from other Provinces, then assisting in any construction.

Suggest that the original building to be found or constructed therefore be Redoran (as they will be more appropriate hosts given the later events, unless you want to create a campus War in TES4? in which case Hlaalu), with small additions using designs drawn from our TES4 Provinces to represent the original factions involved and their homes...

There is a faction that does need 'homes' = the Cerro, ST's very own Vampire Clan - and guess what, their base skils are subterfuge and Alchemy! Link ups could be fun. Maybe they could be your Landlords - through a suitable intermediary... and or your nemesis, as they do not like Imperials... = accomodating at first, but then outraged to discover that you are inviting Imperials in...

ataridante - a useful contributor to the Botany Books was creating his own OB ESF Alchemy Mod, and he might have reached the point where he would like to take part... could contact him if you like...

More thoughts later if you like...
Was that post a plug for Dean Raggihaal Hlaalu Smile

The quests required to complete the Alchemy training will include much Botony and Literature so its not forgotten....not yet...its still fresh in my mind (tommarow may be different)

So then the possible location I have pictured gets a yes vote from the Dean?
ooops - read the rest of the post... sorry, had a glitch here and it got wiped... hope you like the rest...

raggidman is just a nickname - the dean's actual name might be very different...

I will await your response with interest - see if it works for you - if it starts as Hlaalu then there will have to be serious problems with the landlords as the Hlaalu-Indoril situation hots up on Vvardenfell - and the landlords are less likely to be Cerro, as the Cerro are Redoran-based.

However, if the founders are far sighted they might be expected to avoid theobvious Hlaalu Trap - but would easily fall into a connection with Cerro who are masters of deception and concealment - though not Rogues like the specialist Vvardenfell Clan you understand. The Cerro survive by being unheard of. and they may be joinable in TES4. How fascinating if the player first meets them in TES3... ?
Yes having the entire post help Smile I get glitches everyday

As Far as this goes............

Agreed, I had not considered the forest I will check it out for terrain friendly areas

Taking this into consideration suppose the construction of the University was privately funded by ?????? then it does not have to be Hlaalu

TES3 might show the start of this process = an appropriate teaser and creating such a link to later events should enhance interest in both.

Very good Suggestion: Could this University have been build over an old Vampire Hangout, or did they just move in, either way giving them a portion of the School as a home might work well in many cases and would make questing ideas interesting at least

ataridante - a useful contributor to the Botany Books was creating his own OB ESF Alchemy Mod, and he might have reached the point where he would like to take part... could contact him if you like...

Another good suggestion: Always will except assistance Smile

More thoughts later if you like...

Of course

Thanks Much

I think you confuse me with someone else. ?(
'pologies, I thought you were the famous Rincewind of the Unseen University of Ankh Morpork? Next you will tell me that the Librarian is not an ape... Wink

Best to find the Cerro threads - old ones as it happens - they idea is that there is a major location (hidden deep near the Mountains) where the ancient/s hang out, do their alchemy and stuff.

They send out younger ones to hunt and gather resources.

These set up nests - and would flee if they might be discovered, trying to leave no tiniest clue. Natch the Nerevarine is no ordinary adventurer, but I suspect that whatever occurs it works better if no slightest news about them ever gets out... that sets things up for the TES4 stuff...

If the Nerevarine tries to speak of them he should get no sense in return.... ummmm.... Vampires traditionally mesmerise their victims - could these have perfected a memory wipe or alteration potion? That would be new to TES and explain much - course our hero could not get access to that in the normal way if there is such a potion, but it might be fun if his friends are mysteriously unable to remember things.
