Hey,

Before I joined up with ST, I was working on Camillan's Enlightenment. This mod was about a wizard, who was a wizard in the traditional sense of the word. To give reference: Think Dumbledore Wink . Camillan was a real researcher, having read every book in the universe twice over. He did experiments with enchantments, spells, alchemy, etc..

I was planning to divide it into 9 chapters, each, except the last, would lead to a relic of some sorts. Each chapter would feature more of the background story of Camillan. The story ends with you finding the latest research Camillan was working on, dated a year before you find it. So could he still be alive? So in the last chapter you try to find Camillan by researching his last research....

Well, I never got chapter 1 finished, but I thought; couldn't I add this in Silgrad Tower as a giant side-quest?

Thanx,
Cuthalion
Sounds interesting! Yes you definitely could, please reveal more about the specifics of your plans. I would highly recommend modding it in 'episodes', so that you have a start and a finish and a payoff for the player. That way your work could be included and playable in its own right rather soon, while you then started working on the second episode of the overall huge quest.

Plus, if you should find yourself without enthusiasm to carry on developing the quest - it happens to the best of us, I'm afraid - you would still have a finished, fun adventure in the bag for the player to enjoy. Whereas if you set out to do the whole thing in one go and completed bits and pieces of it and then lost the enthusiasm, the risk is that nothing of it would make it in. I'd hate to see that happen as much as I would love to see a cool new quest added post haste. :goodjob:
Quest: "Camillan Chronicles: Plane of Ethuil"

Around the university of Silgrad (there's going to be a university right?) there's talk of an unearthed ruin with a giant construct inside, nobody has been able to get past it. [That's also your first journal entry].

When you go to the ruin there's a small research team who tells you they haven't even tried to get close to the construct, because it's really huge.

Turns out, when you get close to it, the construct speaks to you and tells you a riddle:
When wrong: You can't move anymore and you lose 50% of your health, thus you're only able to guess twice before your untimely death.

When right: he throws a spell at you and everything becomes black. You wake up in a ruined garden, in front of you is a kind of nymf.

The Nymf tells you about her master, Camillan, who she hasn't seen in a long time. However, this nymf is 'damaged', as the garden. She only says sentences you really can't understand. However, when you look around the garden (the nymf follows you) you find a garden shack. When you go inside you find the interior of an Ayleid ruin.

There's a small desk there, with an orb on it. You activate the orb.

Suddenly you're back in the university. But everything is different, it looks much more dark, and when you try to get out of the university, there's an invisible wall stopping you. Everyone acts weird.

Somebody walks up to you (an university official) and he says:

"Welcome stranger! I noticed you were not my master so I detached from my original surroundings and created this environment for you, hoping to make it more comfortable for you. From what I can see from your memory, it is more then 300 years after my birthdate, the day my master made me."

- PCAnswer: "Who was your master?"
- PCAnswer2: "Release me, or I will use force!"
- PCAnswer3: "Whaaaa?"

Answer2: "My master had his faults, unfortunately he passed them onto me. He detested the unintelligent. Come back when you are ready" [You are transported back into the ruin, in front of the construct]

[If that happens, the construct will ask another riddle, before he gives you the choice to either leave or return to the garden]

Answer3: "Should I use smaller words or are you as stupid as your answer was?"

- PCAnswer31: "Sorry, I was overwhelmed, it won't happen again" (revert back to "Answer")
- PCAnswer32: "What?"

- Answer32: "Goodbye, simpleton." [You get transported back to the ruin]

[If that happens, the construct will ask another riddle, before he gives you the choice to either leave or return to the garden]

Answer(and Answer31): "My master was Camillan, a powerful sorcerer. Possibly the mightiest of his day. Although he was not evil, he did not do good deeds with his powers. He used his time and powers for research. I was created to give him an interactive environment in which he could think, and work on his books."

"I expected him to return soon, although I do not experience time as you do. But you showing up, totally ignorant of my master complicates things. Tell me, how did the garden look? And how's Jodia, the nymf?"

- PCAnswer4: "I came here through an unearthed ruin, an unearthed Ayleid ruin to be exact. A construct asked me a riddle, I answered correctly and was teleported into a ruined garden. Jodia 'greeted' me, but she wasn't really coherent. I found a shack and went inside. That's how I found you."

Answer4: "It seems my master has entered the realm of history."

"You did well simpleton, though I will still need to test your wit." [You're transported into some sort of riddle]

[When you succesfully end the puzzle, you are transported into a chamber that looks like one of the wayshrines, but is surrounded by darkness and has 9 statues of daedra in it]

Answer5: "It seems I was wrong about you, you might actually have some something between your ears, whether it is a gray mass is yet to be determined however."

"I have something for you. Camillan was, after years of research, able to reanimate dead tissue. Unfortunately however, the reanimation didn't include reactivating the brain. I want you to have it. Whenever you put the ring around your finger, you get to power to reanimate dead animals and persons" [using the script that is used to add powers when wearing the Crusader's Armor, it should be easy]

"I have another gift, much more important. It's a clue that could lead to you, starting up his research central again, I feel that it is now closed, and there is no way to get there without the Key."

[You get a page from Camillan's diary, including cluest to one of the transport ruins he used to get into his research central]

"Although my master wasn't a hero in his lifetime, I sense that his inventions could one day be used to help people. Don't let my masters legacy go to waste."

[You get transported back to the ruin, in front of the researchers from the university and you hear rumbling behind you. The ruin collapsed]

--------------------------------------------

End of Chapter one, from this point you can chose to go on to Chapter 2.

I'll keep this in my pocket for when I got nothing to do...
Suggest that you take a look at the ST TES3 Quest Treads: Cerro, University of Silgrad, Cerro Interiors, and Main Quest threads, plus Kedal if you are thinking University.

We are in the process of developing the University 'in-Quest' from its origins, and tying all sorts of stuff in.

Whether or not it becomes a Main Quest it is designed to link stuff from all over, and to give options for ST TES4 and BC stuff too.

Several people have mini-quests that they are adding in already and we are making detailed progress.

Your researcher sounds perfect - and the name would be fine as the University will be inviting lecturers from all over the continent.

ps why is this not a book? Sad
Looks good.
I like it.
Lets have this as a side quest. I will help if possible.
i second flyboy this would be awesome
whoa... SciFi meets Fantasy... and Cuthalion... Big Grin

Beleg Cuthalion your prose fills the ears of King Thingol Singollo better than even the great bards of the Noldoli, be proud of that for your writings are as great as your marksmanship with your bow. Now write more... more! Big Grin
Yeez KuKulza, that, coming from you especially, means alot to me! Thanx Wink . Right now I've got alot to do (Schoolwork, Newsletter, 3 claims, Trader's Guild story line, Steadhelm Mainquest and a dutch Oblivion site I'm building with a friend), so this week I won't be able to write... Next week however, I promise chapter 2 Wink

hehehe...

well I'm not a huge fan of the Elves, Dwarves, and Men...
ways always a bigger fan for the evils that Morgoth started.... I mean Balrogs, Dragons, orcs, Trolls, Vampires, Wargs, Werewolves.... I mean they're just so cool... seriously...
but hey, Tolkien was my first fantasy-world, second has been TES....
but Tolkien is still at my roots of fantasy-world... good stuff

so yeah Beleg, take it easy...

and don;t trust those Noegyth Nibin, those particularly small Naugrim...they may have been the older settlers of Beleriand but since their decimation at the hands of your Sindar, they have grown dark, grim, and full of malice...
I mean seriously, what the hell, the Petty Dwarves used to live in the lands of Beleriand, settled Amon Rudh (Bar-en-Nibin-noeg) and Nargothrond (Nulukizzdin) was originally theirs before their abandoned caves were found...
then those Sindar come in and kill them...
it's like the Dunelending and men of Dunharrow, they were once the original settlers of the Rohan and White Mts. but the Numenorean-Gondorian folk and the Rohirrim drove them out... and yet we're supposed to root for them... ugh..

alright, enough of me rambling on... Big Grin
