I think that the arrival to Vvardenfell should go like this...

right after the Oblivion Crisis at Kvatch begins, a courier goes to you from Lord Vivec and the letter goes like this:
[blockquote]_Player name__
I, Lord Vivec, god-king of Morrowind call you to the Star-Wounded East to fight the pawns of Oblivion. My emissary will bring you to Vvardenfell if you are willing to come. If not know you are always welcome, for I see you are doomed with fate and prophecy, and your aid in our land will be greatly appreciated.

(Tribunal Hand Seal)[/blockquote]
and at that moment you say YES or NO...
if YES then...
the emissary will tell you that a boat will be waiting outside of Leyawiin. When you go there you will find a Dunmer ship with Tribunal flags. You go aboard and you'll be greeted by a shipmaster who will tell you to go below deck. After you do so, the emissary will be there and ask if you are ready. If not he will tell you to please hurry up. If so then a movie will start...

you see a barren ashland valley... then suddenly the land cracks and fire comes out...
then you see corprus men dancing around a statue who siluoette and shape seems familiar but it is in the shadows of the cave.
Then you see ashlanders wading through a river and suddenly attacked by Dreugh.
Then St. Jiub surrounded by hoards of cliffracers and chopping them down with an ax
then a scene with Hlaalu and Dres fighting Indoril in a large field...
then an Indoril noble stooped over with a sword in his gut
and then slaves running free and overrunning Dunmer slavers trying to stop them...
then a scene of a Morag Tong killing a nobleman...
and then suddenly Vivec's Palace and then Vivec... and he says... "welcome back outlander..."

and you awake from you dream... it is nighttime ...yet no one is below deck...
you find the ship is broken and and burning and you make your way out. The crew are dead but when you get out you find a shattered Longboat on nearby rocks with a few dead Nords shot through with arrows...
a small boat then comes close and has an Imperial Guard and a rower. He calls to you and when you jump into the boat he says, "we thought there were no survivors. These Nords are getting bolder, but you're lucky that your ship made it so close to Seyda Neen. See that ship in the distance, that's one of ours, we saw your ship on fire and a longboat trying to get away, but we shot it through with arrers' and I think it did its job eh?" and when you arrive.. "alright, here you are, the sooner you leave, the sooner we can move on"
when you step off onto the pier an Imperial Guard will say, "You survived the pirates? You are a lucky one... well, welcome to Vvardenfell, I'm sure you'll fit right in... head on in"
When you enter you meet Socucius Ergalla who says "ah, we've been expecting you, now you'll have to be recorded before you can be officially released. There are a few ways we can do this and the choice is yours." a menu option will come up and say "Give Him Information" or "Start a New Life" which will remake all your character's class and skills but not attributes and race. After that is all done, you go outside and a Temple priest and an Ordinator meet you and the Priest tells you to quickly go and help save Ald-Ruhn. (teleport)

you are teleported outside Ald-ruhn. There a gate had opened, and many buildings are ruined. A rough Dunmer with a large scar on his face approaches you and says he is St. Jiub. He has two Ordinators with him and a few Telvanni. He says that while on a pilgrimage to Kummu he found the Telvanni who told him Ald-Ruhn was besieged. Thus he and his escorts quickly came, but found themselves way outnumbered. He then asks if you are the only reinforcement that Lord Vivec sent. You answer yes, and the dialogue ends. An Ordinator grumbles and says, "you better be good n'wah..." The band then charges into Ald-ruhn, takes the Daedra by surprise and is greeted by a weary group of Redoran led by Athyn Sarethi and Ralos Venim. The Chief Councilor Venim tells you that they had been holding out in Ald Skar and that they had been waiting for the chance to sally forth. Suddenly a few Dremora charge out of the Gate and hack down Jiub. Venim cries out and everyone rushes to kill the Dremoras. The Telvanni then enter the gate and later come out and the gate disappears. People come out of Ald Skar and mourn the death of St.Jiub and ironically a cliff racer flies by and cawws loudly...

and now you begin your life on Vvardenfell... you can go back to Cyrodiil via Ebonheart or Seyda Neen. Ebonheart goes to Anvil, and Seyda Neen goes to Leyawiin... and in Ebonheart Asciene Rane can also teleport you to the Imperial City but at a high cost, but for free if you are head of Imperial Guard or Grand Inspector of the Census and Excise...

if you said NO to the emissary then he will tell you that your ride is waiting near Leyawiin. When you go to Vvardenfell, everything will be the same except for the Siege of Ald-ruhn... instead when you come out of the Census & Excise Office someone will be shooting arrows at you from the top of the Lighthouse. You get all the way up and kill him. Before he dies and gasps and says... "so he comes, and Vvardenfell will be ruined by war and chaos... "

well what I meant by it was you get the feeling that Vivec has met you before and welcoming you back outlander...
so its kinda eerie and you feel as if he knows you...
Well remember we arent the Nerevarine so im not in vote for that phrase but yea.

yeah, but its to get the player thinking... like as if Vivec had met him before... somehow...
I worry about two things:

-How script-intensive this is
-How long it will take to make the video (and the skill required)

Remember, you guys are still a small mod, and you don't have all century to make this Wink. That video will take some time, and will require some GOOD animators.

As far as the quest goes, that's quite a bit happening at once to try to make it play our perfectly.

This is how I've always pictured the events of the siege of Ald Ruhn (in order):

-All is calm.
-An Oblivion gate (normal) suddenly opens in front of the city.
-The guards rush in front of the gate to wait and see what happens. They still keep their distance, since they have no idea what this thing is.
-Daedra rush out of the first normal gate and several guards fall almost instantly from their wounds, since they certainly weren't expecting THIS.
-The other guards collect themselves and begin fighting the Daedra
-A second gate opens, and the current guards are over-ran.
-Daedra start pouring into the city and attacking more guards and citizens, while the third gate opens.
-The great gate opens, and shorly after, the siege engine leaves the great gate and torches the city.
-Meanwhile, the whole city is in a state of chaos, as citizens are being hacked down in the streets, and the city is slowly burning to the ground.

That's just how I see it though Wink. Jiub probably just gets killed in the chaos of the siege

Remember a few things as well:
-Word spreads slowly across Tamriel. The people of Vvardenfell may not even have gained word of the Emperor's death by now, since the siege of Kvatch can often be mere days after his death (depending on what the player does). Furthermore, they may not even know of the threat Oblivion poses to them after his death (unless Vivec knows).
-Unless the player closes the lesser gates, or the great gate, a big-assed siege weapon is still going to attack the city, so keep that in mind Tongue
alright... i agree about the script intsensiveness...
and we are a small mod only cause we have unfortunately ....shrunk...

that may be the case for the play of events... however you get in there towards the end...
it is possible for the dream we'll simply have the player dream of Ald-ruhn siege and St. Jiub dying... Confusedhrug:

thanks for the reply... I like it when someone really analyzes and responds according to that
No problem Smile.

If you want the player to have an active role in Ald Ruhn, one thing you can do is have him go in and clear out the Daedra that are holding the town (if reinforcements haven't already done that). This could be similar to the battle of Kvatch, where you go in and recapture the castle, only in this case, the player will be going through Skar and killing the Daedra Smile.

The only problem with allowing Ald Ruhn to be completely destroyed would be that you would have the task of finding a way to rebuild it, through quests, scripts, etc. Of course, the player could just come back later, and find the town is mostly repaired (assuming that everything was atleast somewhat standing).

Another option may be just to allow the town to remain in a ruined state, and have that add to the stress on the Redoran in the Great House War. Maybe the player would take charge in helping to rebuild the city if they join with the Redoran?

Just throwing out some suggestions Wink.
thats the plan

it will be partially destroyed...
but the work ethic of the Redoran will rebuild it quickly...
and if you are in Redoran you will help in the quests...

and if not, then you'll just have to watch it repair...

EDIT:
so let's finalize ideas for the arrival to Vvardenfell...
I like it. It's a very deep and involving way to start off any adventure into Vvardenfell, and it's Main Quest.

I like the idea, it's very interesting. I personally would love to start off Vvardenfell like this.
