XMarkerHeading is needed for randomly teleporting doors, and is also used often by the AI to decide which way to look. I often have used it in situations where I had the NPC's training with weapons (look at the FG NPC's I made). This includes archery, melee, etc...
For Random doors, I suggest you look at the Oblivion caves, and citadel towers, they use them often. Careful to avoid contaminating the plugins of course, so in a seperate Editor from whatever it is that you are working on.
You can also use XMarkerHeading in scripts to place characters or objects at a specific point facing a certain direction. This was used in the Fighters Guild Quest where you had to (SPOILER) kill the people (appearing as goblins) at that town east of Border watch, forget its name. Look at the quest scripts.
