I just posted this on the official forums, 5 mins later and iv bin redirected to u guys lol heres the post...

Hi there, iv recently been going through alot of mods for oblivion that iv found on various sites such as source and fileplanet.
Iv been playing through a pirate ilse mod and im liking it alot. this got me thinking, would anyone out there be able to create a mod which impliments horse drawn carriages and stage coaches? random travelling salesmen caravans and a few gypsie trains? these carriages could have a number of quests attatched to them eg, protection of delgates and lords/ladies travelling from city to city OR you, yourself can hold them up randomly as a Highwayman (Dick Turpin Big Grin)

I think it would be a nice mod just to add something else to do when travelling
I, myself cant use the TESconstruction set, far to confusing and I really dont have that much time to lern scripting etc but i just thought this idea may get back to someone Big Grin

I reckon its do-able and would definatly add a sense of "time flow" to the game, I also know that there are already mods for travalling traders and so fourth, this would just be a bit of an "upgrade" as it where Tongue

It sounds like an interesting idea indeed. =) I liked the part in Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask when I had to shoot bandits with my bow from inside a caravan. Big Grin This could add a certain new depth to the game, I'm sure. As far as I know, there aren't any caravans modelled and/or textured, so that would be the place to start.

As it is your idea, perhaps you'd like to mod it in? Most people like implementing their own ideas rather than other peoples', and we'd be willing to help if we can also have the mod adapted to fit Silgrad Tower and its surrounding regions as well. As it is, we only recently got a landscape, so we need to fill it in with all sorts of adventure, perhaps you would be willing to help? Right now, we are focussing on modding the cities until the landscape itself is ready to be modded publicly (it is being prepared, you can have a look at it in the most recent release (LINK) ). We will help you learn as much as you help us make our mod as good as it can be. :yes:
id love to help, i dl the TES yesterday and loaded in the main.esp into it to have a looksee at what its like, iv never been more confused ever :S lol
iv tried mild programming b4 but that was bout 4 years ago when i was in year 9 at school lol, this is completley different and i really wouldnt know were to start, how to use the differing programs required and what to do lol,

Majora's mask did spring to mind when i was thinking about this idea id also like to see more livestock in this game, also I understand u can "invest" in shops with a certain merc skill. why not be able to set up ur own farm or brewery?
It could start off small with 1 farmhand and a small amount of chickens/sheep and then as u gain more money u can buy other things and sell other items at a farmers market which could be held either in everytown next to the city stables or next to the imperial city itself, if u have a brewery maybe u cud start to rival surielle wines?
Another good thought would be that u could set up contracts with traders, wereby they buy stock off you every few days or so, this stock doesnt have to appear in their lists of things to sell but would just b another source of income

lol a tad lengthy but iv got tons of ideas for little extra things to make an already great game slightly more lifelike and realistic

I like these ideas. It would be nice to get a further use for mercantile into the game, not to mention it's something different, new, and fun. You can start off with a small piece of land, and then develop it into a farm or shop, and then buy out some surrounding land and develop that too. Then you could get some pretty nice steady profits coming in too, like if you have a fully developed buisness you get like 3,000 gold a week. Another neat thing would be if you could open your vendor chest of whoever you leave in charge (i.e. the person you start the buisness with and share the profits), leave your own items in it you don't want, and you can sell them for more than they are actually worth. Neat, right? But, what is opening a successful buisness without catching the eye of some.....more shady characters? Big Grin
lol, im liking that alot. Oblivion is an awsome game but im not always one for "hack 'n' slash" orientated genres. dont get me wrong, there alot of fun but can get repetitive quite quickly.

I reckon crafting should b implimented into the game somehow, i already have a mod which allows me to do leatherworking and fletching, which is awsome coz my new toon is a custom ranger class using a mod which gives me companions. but what abpout meaty warriors hu want awsome steely armour? or mages hu want elegant clothing? a good game to look at for crafting would b everquest II. i played that alot and crafting systems allowed players to find "recipe" books to create, clothing, armour, weapons, potions, skills, FURNITURE, and many other things.

Do u reckon it would b possible to set up a site where all different players of oblivion could come together on a sorta forum-cum-market board and trade items?
im thinking it would be too difficult to impliment but would b awsome if it could. that way some guy from scotland could sell a weapon he made to someguy in america etc...

I think both Traders Guild and Fighters Guild could make good use of caravans... And escort missions and/or trading missions.

I think all the guilds (except mage, teleNoobs... Wink) could use this.
