Granado Espada (GE) is a Korean MMORPG that has, more or less, recently spread to other regions. There are a bunch of versions of the game, but only the Korean GE, Japanese GE, Thai GE, and Filipino GE versions are fully active. The two English versions that I'm aware of (Singapore and Europe/North America versions) are currently in the open beta phase. There's also a Chinese version which I also think is in open beta.

The game is free to play while in open beta so anyone can try it out. Also I have to note that for an open beta the game is pretty complete and optimized.

About the English versions:
The version for Europe and North America is called Sword of the New World: Granado Espada and was published by the K2 Network company. The Singapore version bares the original name (Granado Espada) and was published by Infocomm Asia Holdings (IAH).

Both versions are completely in English and everyone speaks English in-game (yes, even in the Singapore version). HOWEVER if you decide to try the game I would strongly recommend going with the Singapore version for the following reasons:
- The Singapore version is fully and precisely translated from Korean while the translation work for the K2 version is not fully completed and is still quite imprecise.
- K2, the publisher of the European/North America version, has a bad reputation for ruining good games and bad customer support.
- The K2 version allowed for a lot of end-game visual content (character costumes) to be chosen at character creation which removes a big part of the reward players get for reaching a high level.
- The K2 version will be pay 2 play with a cash shop (item shop) after open beta. They also included some premium content for people who buy the game on a DVD.
- IAH has not yet decided on the payment method for the Singapore version, but it will most likely be free 2 play with an item shop (like the Korean and Japanese versions).

I play the Singapore version on the Caravaggio server (my in-game family name is Hardrada). If anyone decides to try it out feel free to drop by. =)

Not for the Singapore version. For the K2 version you can get a beta key with a free registration or by registering on the official home page of the K2 version.

I have time for both.

I actually have so much free time I'm beginning to feel bored... and I haven't felt bored in a long time. Tongue
Very nice graphics...has a sort of 17th century look to it...but regrettably, it all seems to be in 3rd person view. If it has no 1st person, I won't want to play it...you don't have that total immersion experience in 3rd person...you remain all too aware that you are playing a game.

Well almost all MMORPGs are in 3rd person and even if the were not I can't say they offer a lot of immersive gameplay. I play MMOs so I can compete and cooperate with other players, but I leave the immersion to games like Oblivion. Smile

Though MMOs with Oblivion level graphics are beginning to immerge on the market, I'd say it's only a mater of time before a MMORPG that looks and plays like OB is developed (which would of course would be awesome).
Incredible. Incredibly complex. I wish I knew what people were saying. Seriously, worst tutorial ever, coupled with sucha complex system, coupled with engrish, does not make for a user friendly game. But I like my family...
