Silgrad Tower from the Ashes

We bought our house in 1993. In the last couple of years two of our trees have died. I finally had one of them cut down this summer. The other one went last summer. We've been gradually digging around the stump in order to get it out. Yesterday when I came home from grocery shopping, my step son was working on it and had a very confused expression on his face. I get out of the car and he tells me he thinks he knows why the tree died. It turns out that when the previous owners planted the tree, they failed to remove the pot first. Its a big heavy wooden pot. The tree roots didn't have anywhere to go. No wonder it died. ?(

Sorry you trees died

I landscape as a hobby and you'd be suprised how often that happens. It usually the black plastic trow away containers though, not nice wood ones.
