District: Riverside.
Cell name: SilgradCity0326.
Claim Difficulty: Easy.
NPC's: 2.
Race: Dunmer, Hlaalu.
Class: Poor-Middle.
General info: Check -=this link=-.[/blockquote]

Status: Finished by sniper4.

You'll find the exterior and interior building (screenshot) in the cell SilgradCity0326. Use the Silgrad_Tower.esm v2.98 or a higher version.

The NPC('s) must have (full) dialogue and AI, don't forget the pathgrid.
Full AI: Eat, sleep, one drink and/or read package.

I'll set the rotation for the Northmarker and connect the interior to the exterior.

Add a few windows to the interior and to the exterior building as well (matching with the interior).

Background.

No preference.

Poor-middle: Mostly poor furniture with some redware objects.
You can't use rich objects.

Use the existing cell (SilgradCity0326) and don't delete the exterior building.
Before I make this claim, I should probably introduce myself. If you wish to get straight to business, just skip to below the dashed line.

I am Sniper4, a former moderator and head of interior reviewers at Tamriel Rebuilt. I was active at TR from November 2003 to September(?) of 2005, and held the moderator post for approximately nine months of that time frame. Since then, I have been only lurking in the ES modding community.

I have caught "the modding bug" again, and I have decided to join in your efforts to see this section of Morrowind rebuilt in TES IV. I have limited experience with Oblivion's version of the CS, but I spent a lot of time with the Morrowind version, so hopefully it won't take me long to get adjusted.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is... Hello! Smile
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll start out with this simple claim, since I have only limited experience with Oblivion's CS (as mentioned above) and I'm a bit rusty (5 years away from interior building will do that). The description says, "no preference," so I will make it simply a dunmer man and his wife. Since I'm new to OB modding and ST, I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

-In terms of providing dialogue, are you referring to the [City Name] dialogue, like in Vanilla OB? Or do you want me to have them say something else?
[edit: I think I found it: "Add dialogue. At least one greeting, one misc. topic and one topic for Ebbedin, Reich Parkeep, Silgrad city or Steadhelm (depending on where you claimed your interior). Comply to the correct naming for the quest and the topics."]

-If I'm understanding your procedures correctly, the esp I should make this on is basically going to be a plugin of the Silgrad_Tower.esm (v 3.37 + patch), am I correct? So in the CS, I will load the Oblivion main esm and the ST esm, right? What I'm not understanding is what this "modding esm" is that is mentioned in discussions within The Source.

Thank you Smile.
Hey Sniper4, feel free to start. =) (you may need a BSA, I'll send a PM about that)

Cool! Big Grin I think it's great that you're familiar with Morrowind (and have experience modding it!), and I'm positive you'll fit right in.

Thank you Smile.
You are correct in all of your assumptions. Smile We make the distinction between "modding" and "playing" ESM's partly because we always need to make technical changes to our internal version before it's suitable for actual playing. The latest modding ESM is 3.37 patched.
Have fun and welcome to ST! Smile
Hi Sniper4 and Welcome to Silgrad Tower!!

It is nice to have experience with us.

As far as dialogue goes I will try and help also.

Every interior will have a quest attached to it.

for example:

StSISCC0326Quest

Silgrad Tower - Your abr - Silgradcity claim # - Quest

You start with add topic 'Greeting' and give it a condition of your NPC. Add all other dialogue to the result script of the 'Greeting' or the result script of other dialogue that you have created after the 'Greeting'.

You may already know this but I hope this eliminates any confusion.

Welcome
Charles
Welcome to Silgrad Tower! It's great to see a modding veteran coming to help out! I hope you have a lot of fun here.
@Everyone: Thank you for the warm welcoming Big Grin

@Zurke: Thank you for the information. The Oblivion dialogue system is rather different from the Morrowind system that I'm used to, so the help is appreciated. Smile

Okay, I've got all the models displaying correctly in the CS now, and I'll be able to get started a little later on tonight Smile.

I just have a quick question: In the claim description, you mentioned adding windows to the exterior. I also noticed that there is a copy of the exterior view of the building within the interior cell that my claim is located in. Did you intend for me to add the windows to the actual exterior cell itself (appears to be in "Wilderness -9-20", SilgradCityRiversideNW) or to the model of the exterior that is within my interior cell? I'd assume that it would be to the *actual* exterior cell, but you also mention "You'll find the exterior and interior building (screenshot) in the cell SilgradCity0326," (not to mention that editing the actual exterior could risk creating duplicates in merging), so I'll wait for your response before adding windows.

Just to let you guys know, my part of Illinois could possibly get a lot of freezing rain/ ice accumulation over the next few days. There's a chance I may be without electricity, so I might not be reachable for a few days. If weather permits, however, I will start this evening Smile.
Sniper4, no problem.

All of the exterior models, most are one piece, will have to eventually have windows. It is a very big task. So if you would like to add the windows from your interior to the exterior in Silgrad City NW(you are correct), then that would be fine and helpful.

I find it efficient to document what I do within my esp file. It also helps Sandor when he merges and error checks. I list my changes/additions within the claim thread. This way Sandor knows what has been changed/added and hopefully it will limit any duplications.

I am in NH. Your part of the country has been getting all the weather, by the time it gets here it is little more than a flurry. We need an Noreaster coming down from Canada to have any real snow. I think we have had a total of 18" all year(this winter) Sad.

Just to give a friendly update (I like to update frequently), I spent a lot of this modding session locating the relevant statics, containers, clutter, etc. items in the CS that I will need to make this claim.

Most of the large furniture is in place, so I just need to get to the fine details now. I'll probably pop into the Morrowind CS sometime and write down the lighting values to a comparable interior, so this one will have that authentic "Morrowind Hlaalu house feeling." I found there wasn't enough room to place a two-person bed without sticking it right in the large-ish entry room (which I plan to use as a dining/entry room), so instead this (now elderly) couple will sleep in separate single beds upstairs. If it were a younger couple, this might be a bit weird, but old people usually don't like sleeping in the same bed, anyway Smile.

By the way, I LOVE how the models look almost exactly like their Morrowind counterparts. They make me feel right at home ^_^.

If I'm understanding Zurke's post regarding dialogue, I will also need to make a quest for this interior, right? I've been working out the personalities of these people as I build their home, and I've decided that the man will be the kind of crotchety old man that you imagine would wear a wife beater if he existed in real life Tongue. The old lady will be kind of meek, but a bit hardened from living with such a rough-necked man.

Quest possibilities include:

1. The old fart gives you a fetch quest that is the adventurer's equivalent of "Go in there and make me a sandwich!" This one would be easy for me to make due to my limited experience with the OB CS's quest system, but would be rather uninteresting Tongue.
-or-
2. The old woman is afraid, because her husband is growing angry, unpredictable, and abusive with age. She wants to leave him (perhaps she has family elsewhere?), but she is afraid of getting caught in the act. She wants you to escort her to _____ to make sure she gets away safely. This one will be a bit more interesting, but it will take me a bit longer to figure out the scripting. Plus, I'd need to figure out a point outside of the cell to act as the destination.

It's not required to add a quest but new quests are more than welcome.

Without adding a quest it's not possible to implement the dialogue for this claim.
As you said, the OB dialogue system is quite different from MW.

I like your quest concept.
If you need some help with scripting please post here or send a PM.
