Part 1: Initial Contamination
Under the decree of Emperor/General Tiber Septim, the Halls of Collosus were carved into the barren wastes of Elsweyr, in which a secret operation was carried out to build a Golem powered by the Heart of Lorkhan.
In the initial months of testing, alot of the calculations were made based on the estimations from Metaphysicians brought in from around the Empire. However, because the Heart would essentially be an infinite power source, with a magnitude that could posibly break reality, most of the tests were on how a Temporal Field could contain the Heart, keeping it out of Synch with the rest of the Universe so that the Golem created would not attain a place in the Wheel.
This theory would ultmately damage the area around the Halls of Collosus, and take the lives of many God-Theory-Mechanists working on the prototype.
Their plan was to create a stand-in power source from an obscure relic taken from Thras, before it was destroyed by Bendo Olo many centuries before. The relic itself was a a device the feed upon reality of the world itself, bleaching it, however the Theorists beleived it was containable using the same Temporal Field devised to be used with the Heart.
On activation, it is assumed that the device attempted to attain power from the area, however because the Temporal Field took the area out of Synch with the Universe, the Device backfired and for briefs moments the entire area existed on Mundus, Aetherius, and the Void all at the same time, bearing it naked to the Elements. The device then timed out (the only safety precaution that apparently was used), and the area once again only existed in Mundus -but what was left was ruined; the area warped and unsafe.
