I have acquired a 'Jellyfish' from Koniption. As yet, I haven't seen it in action because I'm in a rather busy period at work and the files need to be dealt with in a particular way that looks vaguely complicated. I'm sure it's fine though. Koniption's stuff always is. And there is a Word doc attached that provides instructions for use.

As Koniption says, the jellyfish:

Quote:"...comes complete with texture map in dds format, for custom texture designs and such.

Read the document if you're gonna playtest it ingame.

It's very simple creature, but is animated effectively for what it is. It does not cast spells. The centipede will be my first spell casting creature, though.

(PS -reallife jellyfish can paralyze prey on touch, but don't know if you can do this with the jelly without a magicNode. You'd need a "casttouch.kf" animation to cast a paralyze spell or something, if use magicNode.)

Please PM me for the files.

I'm up for answering any questions if there are any problems getting it in game, but it sounds like Koniption has it covered if she included a word doc.

I imagine the game would probably crash if you included spellcasting animaions without a magicNode.

If it's felt that spellcasting is necessary and Koniption doesn't fancy doing it then I guess you could sling it my way, it shouldn't be too much trouble to add the neccessary bone and animation (of course, me getting it done in a timely manner is another thing entirely Wink).
I'll see what the BM core have to say about that. Thanks, nick_op! :goodjob:

Ibsen, I included the doc with some suggested tweaks, and provided it for people who might not know how to enter creature data in CS. If you know how to enter creatures in the CS, then you can ignore the document. But I force people to read my docs anyway, mwahahah!

nick_op : I don't mind if you add a magicnode, so go right ahead. At the time I made the jelly, I didn't think to add a magicnode for paralyzing spells, and didn't know totally how magic casting worked for creatures.

I haven't done very many creatures yet, so I'm still learning bits here and there.

Since we have Koniption's okay, It's fine by me. It'll be a very interesting addition to our collection. Now we need to get that damn sea monster WIX was working on done. I'll play with Baliwog anims and see if I can get that in-game too.

I've not done many creatures either, but I have done the same one multiple times. Wink

For the Kwama Forager I ended building several skeletons for it, rigged it at least 5 times and did all of the animations at least twice, due to various problems I had. I guess repetition reinforces the knowledge though.

You'll just need to rig it to the baliwog's skeleton and drop it in the same folder. Either that or copy all of the baliwog animations/skeleton into a new folder.
It sounds like we're going to have plenty of really cool creatures for BM. It may be worth getting together a gallery along with recommendations for regional/location use. That way modders could choose appropriately whilst we exhibit what we offer in promotional terms. Alternatively, some lists with recommendations would be great for assisting claims information.
Good idea Ibsen, and the Jellyfish idea seems really nice. I cant wait to see it in game.
Hi,

I changed the name of this thread since I received Koniption's latest contribution and something that I've been after since I saw the pics of the model in Koniption's picture files...a CENTIPEDE!

I am informed that this creature uses Elytra soundsets for now (in Koniption's esp), but seeing as I did the sounds for the Kwama, I suggested I might have a go at doing the sounds for these as well.

I posted the files to Tlo in a PM.
I'm experimenting with the sounds for the jellyfish at the moment so I may well be doing some extensive editing of this post.

My basic source files include the files I attached here. Please note that I reduced the quality in order to get them posted up within the 1mb limit.

What I need to know is what range of samples to include. With the Kwama, I was tasked with producing files in the categories of: foot, idle, aware and attack. Sometimes I could get away with doing more than one submission for each category but I was also restricted to about 2 seconds for pretty much all of the sample files.

The bubbling sounds and 'balloon release' sound clip will probably do for idles and foot sounds whilst the 'jumping into water' and 'Stone in water' might serve as good aware clips. 'Rhythmic water drops' might work there as well...and this is where I'm thinking of doing something to the files as the latter one has had some synth applied to it and I was wondering what might be achieved by tweaking the others.

Animation-wise, am I correct in assuming that the jellyfish never ventures onto the shore? Does it ever break the surface?

In the meantime, those four ghostly 'water harp' sounds would make some excellent underwater spell sounds as they sound a little whale-like and ethereal....but when I got thinking about them I wondered if they might be better placed as environmental sounds for the Paatru dwellings.

What thinkest thou?
