I'm learning lots from working with all these other mods in game. Some of that will be useful here.
1. Not everyone installs their game into the default drive. It is important to take that into account when setting up meshes/sounds/textures so that the game works properly for everyone.
2. Careful scripting is important. Make sure they affect Vanilla objects as little as possible to decrease conflicts with other mods.
I'm sure others have ideas for this list too. Please feel free to post responses and I will include them in edits to this post as time permits.
