Please post here your ideas, requests, suggestions, submissions and general conversation about environmental assets that we can use for the 'Naga-Cradle Jungle' region before we move on to generate this region with the selected items. Of particular interest is going to be:
  • Trees - SnowGum, Hala, Gingko.
  • Rocks - Mania rocks (possibly retextured)
  • Shrubs and Flora - Bromeliads.
  • Dead logs (and other cast-off items)
  • Textures
  • General colours and design style
  • Others - Harvestable Hala and Gingko fruit.

I will update this post for easy reference purposes as and when we receive items that have been selected for use in this region.

Please note: Some maps here will not refer to this region as stated. This is because the Ok-Nanha Jungle and the Storm Forest were blended together and shared out between this region and Blackwood.
I'm desperate for some really big vines and creepers (like those from SI that you could walk over) plus some trees with very large and heavy foliage. Large mushrooms almost to the point of the mushroom trees of Morrowind would be nice. I'd like to build this area up quite high and then use some waterfalls for a rainforest effect.

Of course, I've also been after some leaning trees for ages and ages, particularly those that jut out of cliffs so please keep your eyes open.

I will try taking a look at some more of the 'Unique Landscapes' unique models as RAII is okay for people to use his supreme models.
"Naga-Cradle Jungle" Flora Ideas for Blackmarsh:

Humongous database of tropical plant photos! You can use these photos as textures for tropical plants - AFTER you email the people who took the photos for permission and credit them (they're nice; I got permission from them for my own plant textures) : http://www.hear.org/starr/plants/images/species/

Naga-Cradle Jungle - Misc Flora ideas:

Candlenut tree or "Kukui" (large seeds edible and highly flammable; seeds themselves used as torch fuel - an ingame lighting gimmick??; burnt seed soot - superior black dye)
Sandbox tree (fruit is explosive and dangerous; pods catapult seed 100 meters and can hurt you - a trap idea?? <pods on ground can explode if you touch them or get too close?>; nicknamed Dynamite Tree; milky say used to poison fish in waters)
Seagrape (small shrub to tree; fruit look like long vertical green grape cluster; edible raw/jams/jellies; gorws right beside ocean on sandy beaches)
Ohelo [Vaccinium reticulatum] (very small bush; edible fruit with cranberry taste in shades of blue/purple/red/orange/yellow; likes to grow on lava flows, ash, poor soil in general)
Cannonball tree (large woody/hard cannonball shaped fruit grow on its trunk, literally; be caredful walking under them - artillery and trap idea?)
Lacquer tree (sap polymerizes when drying <aka hardens>; sap to varnish and coat stuff - waterproof when dry; waterproof boats, and etc)
Cocao plant (cocoa beans as ingredient - chocolate!!)
Hawaiin Alula [Brighamia insginis] (very unusual looking plant; found on rocky ledges with little soil or jutting out of sea cliffs)
Noni or "Indian Mulberry" (edible fruit - smells bad and tastes bad, so a famine fruit; all parts useful; medicinal; grows in poor soil)
Breadfruit tree (edible large fruit; pounded into pudding for some recipes. It's said 1-2 trees can provide for one person for a lifetime of food)

Koniption

PS - soo many tropical plants to go through and decide on in the links above and my listing here. I can't possibly go through them all, but I listed some I were familiar with or found.

PSS - Sorry about the weblinks in post above that don't automatically take you to the site. Just copy/paste the links in your browser to get there. I don't know what I did wrong...
Cool Cool

I would like to take a good long look at this region next after Blackwood to see if we can get a preset sorted out. So I'll post back here when I've decided which of your resources are going to be the big ones to use. I may also edit this very post with details of any jungle resources I come across when I next come to browse TesNexus. Although with a list like that, some modder who takes a special interest in flora might well be inclined towards having a go at them so I'll just keep my eyes peeled.
More good news for this region: Lush and Dark Jungle & ShadowyDoom3's Jungle Mod. Both of whom might appear to be highly recruitable members for the next stage of regional development. Do you think I should drop them a message?
Definitely! It's worth a shot getting in touch with anyone who might be useful. Incidentally, I'm told that the Cyrodiil Upgrade Team is reforming, but I couldn't find out where.
Yes, information from Giskard over recent developments has now been posted up in more detail over here: http://www.novazone.karoo.net/ .

It would appear that TesNexus is responsible for this sudden departure. Having worked with the Dark Brotherhood mod not so long ago, it seems that they too share a rather dim view of the management of TesNexus which would appear not to support its main proponents: the modders. They really are cutting their own throats, it seems. It was the first OB website that I really liked but there have been various oddities from the management over the course of time that have seriously affected my view of them. I've not experienced anything of that sort personally but there is a growing discontent about the site.

Anyway, Giskard's 'faithful' seem to be reforming under the name of 'Dragon Captions'.

P.S. If responding to this post, please cut out the quote and paste it into a new thread so that this thread remains focused on the Jungle models.
Okay, I started taking a look through this stuff in a bit more detail and I must say that Koniption's suggestions here are first class. The difficulty will be in choosing what gets included, what gets made and so on. Just looking for pics on the 'misc flora ideas' came up with these results (see attached).

In this post, you can see, in part one of these pics (and by order of left-to-right, row-by-row):

  1. Breadfruit Tree 01
  2. Breadfruit Tree 02
  3. Candlenut
  4. Cannonball Tree
  5. Cocoa Tree 01
  6. Cocoa Tree 02
  7. Cocoa Tree 03
  8. Indian Mulberry
  9. Lacquer Tree
  10. Ohelo (with diseased red leaves)
Part two of the Koniption's suggestion pics (and by order of left-to-right, row-by-row):

  1. Ohelo (with normal and broomed twigs)
  2. Sandbox Tree 01
  3. Sandbox Tree 02 (featuring the reason why it's also called 'Monkey No-Climb')
  4. Seagrape 01
  5. Seagrape 02
I have also made a rough and temporary selection of flora from Koniption's current assets (which will certainly be subject to change according to how they fit into the overall environmental 'look' in-game) and this is as follows:

    For the Jungle Regions:
    • Monstera plant
    • Hala trees
    • Green Ti Plant
    • Elephant Ear
    • Saffron Crocus
    • Stargazer
    • Dragon Arum (or 'VoodooLily' with Voodoo root - also seen in Gideon)
    • BromGreenStripe, BromZebraStripe, BromLeafSpike, BromRedYellow

    • Sugarcane (possibly between jungle and other regions or used elsewhere)
    • Corn Plant (possibly - I think this should be located wherever the bamboo huts can be found)

    For the Everglades (and cities):
    • HibiscusOrange, HibiscusPink, HibiscusRed
    • Nenuphar Purple
    • PassionFlower
    • Peach Tree
    • Victoria Flower (definitely Victoria Lilypad)
    • Dead Flies?

    For the Parchlands:
    • PalmLeafFern
    • Mango
    • SpikePlant
    • Palm Trees and Coconut Palm
    • Young Coconut Palm

I just noticed that what we're really lacking is something like heather and other low-lying but well-spread features that might populate Darkmoor.

My favourites from the pictures so far are: Cannonball tree, Ohelo, (very tall) lacquer tree, the Sandbox tree and, especially, that low-hanging Seagrape tree with it's extra-large canopy. Canopies are the order of the day with jungles but I imagine they're difficult to do without seriously affecting the FPS.
Im a speedtree modeller too,so i can make trees.

I wanna start with the Seagrape Tree.
