Full Version: What are .tes files?

From time to time my CS generates a file with the suffix .tes instead of a .esp when I attempt to save changes. If I delete the suffix and write .esp instead, the file opens just fine.

Does anyone know what .tes files are and why this sometimes happens?

Deeza
It's a temporary save, it happens when you loaded the esp with e.g. TES4Edit as well.

As you said renaming it to an esp often solves the problem.
Thanks for the clarification.

By the way, has anyone tested TES4Gecko on windows 7 yet? I never got it to work on Vista (hence why my uploads are never cleaned, unfortunately).

I've been thinking of upgrading and wondered if this would make a difference.

No, however it works fine for me with Vista.

I'll take care of the cleaning NP (it only takes a few seconds).
Strange. With me it claims that it's unable to create a file that's supposed to be implanted into the Oblivion directory. Will this be fixed if I shut off the UAC for that directory?
I installed Gecko outside the OB folder.

Further I don't use UAC (not recommended if you browse sites that are unknown).
Hmm. I installed it outside the OB folder too, but it still kept saying it needed access to it. I think I'll have to try turning off the UAC (it should be fine if I stick to sites I know whilst I'm using it).
