Karthgran was just a middle-of-nowhere hamlet until the War of the Bendr'Mahk 50 years ago. Suddenly it found itself on the front line, and was the site of many battles between the Nords and the Kingdom of Evermore as the Nords tried to push south from Farrun and Jehanna. The hamlet became heavily fortified, and a small garrison held out here for many months, with volunteers arriving from all over High Rock, even when the surrounding territory fell.
Today, Karthgran is still occupied by troops from Evermore. They occupy the large wooden fort that surrounds the village, and have an uneasy relationship with the locals that often spills over into fights at the Mead Hall.
