What about Termite Mounds?

They come in all kinds of fantastic shapes, but even the simple ones would make really good alternatives to rocks for the savannah. I mean, this pic from Wikipedia) looks pretty Elsweyrian to me:

Having some of those made up would be excellent, possibly with some matching termite/ant creatures to spawn around them.

Weeell.... I was only thinking of normal termites, which would be too small really to see. If someone wants to get 50's B movie on us that's a different thing entirely....
