Subversion network (svn) - X23 - 10-09-2006
A subversion network is a program where you can easily commit/update your work. If we did it each individual user could just update his files, and than everyone would update and be able to get it. You wouldn't have to rapidshare each new update (well you would for public releases), so it would be easier, and version updates could be more frequent from every user. To set it up I think all you do is go to a svn hosting site and make your folder, but I don't know. Heres more info.

If you wanted to use it we would use the Tortoise SVN client
My aim is X2312. I have Dark Asmodeus on aim, and I'm waiting for him to come on so I can talk more on it.

Subversion would be a very good thing. You just have to keep remembering to commit your changes.

SVN is much easier. Everyone has easier access to the updates of the mod, even if the forums had unlimited files upload limits, it wouldn't be as conveniant. With the svn you don't have to have 50 versions of an esp, and modellers can immediantly upload their model for the texture, and it can be used right away by
a person modding the game. Thats just 1 example.

great idea X23 hope DA does it .

Bump for consideration, if you want I can set it up for you. I can just get the mod and commit it, and give the password to the general account to DA.

There are some pros and cons that I eed to consider, onebeing that I don't want people to be able to use that texture as soon as its uploaded, it will be included with the .esm when it is ready.

If you don't want people to see a texture (I don't see why you wouldn't) You could just not commit it until its ready.
But whats the point of making it so people can't use a texture as soon as its made if its complete? With the svn its easier to show off incomplete stuff, so you get more feedback, and its easier than rapidsharing or filefronting the whole file every new alpha.

Because of issues such as IDs and the ability to know what people have access to. Its a neccassary thing when dealing with the .esp format.
