Just throwing this out there...
Ald'ruhn has fallen, Redoran is decimated, all but gone. MK stirred a lot up in me with his "Remember Redoran. Never Forget". It screams of that sort of loyalty and honor that TES rarely gets spinning inside of you, but when it does its fierce (DB anyone?). What if some Redoran left Vvardenfell, left... Morrowind. What if they're in cyrodiil, seeking shelter and to begin anew. With nothing but the shells they could take by boat, and the will to live, these fiercly traditional Warriors are in cyrodiil to stay, and are preaching their ways to any dunmer who cares to listen (In a not televangelist way though).
It would be little more than a small settlement, some interesting locals, and a feeling of desire to go to morrowind, it can be done entirely with already completed resources I believe.

Nice idea! But why would they go all the way to cyrodill? They can just go to the redoran disctric of morrowind.

Ald'Ruhn falling is official lore Mormacil.
Its a Damn shame, I always liked redoran, though I like them even more when I get to imagine them as an elite traditionalist band, the last survivors of a once great clan.
And yes, there is mainland morrowind, but I was under the impression that the Vvardenfell branches of the houses differed in some way to the mainland ones.
And perhaps they were seeking aid from the emporer?

My impression (subject to correction by KKA, D91, or HtH) in our VV lore was that Ald'Ruhn did fall, but not as catastrophically as Kvatch. To paraphrase from The Princess Bride, "Ald'Ruhn is mostly dead."
To me thiat state of affairs leaves plenty of leeway for both the rebuilding and for small bands of scattered refugees. Think New Orleans after Katrina.

The fact that the city actualy ROSE UP to fight the invaders, and that they still lost, means to me that the city would have had to actually die.
And yes, you can have both I suppose, but MK seemed very keen on that being a sort of last stand, one where they lost.

SACarrow pretty much got it. You'll obviously see lots of changes, most notably, Skar will be laying in a different position after it awoke. The rest will be potenitally lots of dead people, destroyed redoran houses, and lots of buildings built for defense and for war, like more guard towers, more barracks buildings etc. The players will be involved in the quest to rebuild the city, I believe.
KuKulzA will be best for answering these kinda questions and things, since he's the leader, and he knows quite a bit about the game lore.

Not wishing to pick too many hole in the mass annihilation idea, but if you look at world history, very few towns are ever totally destroyed and then left derelict. Most of the time, some people survive, or in the case of genocide or mass suicide, either some of the invaders settle or other stragglers move back in to take over parts of the settlement, especially if there are still some natural resources to take advantage of.
Towns usually die permanently because of huge ecological disasters which totally undermine the entire structure of the civilization, such as dramatic climate change, famine and plague. Since Vvardenfell is still a mostly civilized state, it doesn't make sense for the site to be completely abandoned unless the whole environment is now considered inhospitable (incidentally, why were people living in the area of Ald'Ruhn anyway?). It's not wrong to think the entire native population of the town might have been wiped out, like the Cathar stand at Montsegur in France or Sagunto in eastern Spain where the women and children walked in to a giant bonfire, whilst the men charged out on a suicidal mission (rather than submit to the potential horrors of torture and rape and slavery under a foreign culture - at least as their fanaticism and/or propaganda had them believe). Renegade ashlanders would likely move in amongst the ruins even if the attackers didn't set up some kind of base to deter against a future neo-Redoran revival, even if it came from a bunch of disillusioned Dumner searching for some meaning to their lives and with nothing better to do.
In the case of Kvatch, the motivation of the invading Daedra was quite different and we saw the town still burning under the immediate aftermath of a genocidal attack. And there were still survivors, some inside the city whilst other refugees languished in nearby tents ready to move right back in and rebuild their lives from the rubble. Likewise I'm sure many inhabitants of Ald'Ruhn, such as merchants and members of the guilds, were not Redoran (some weren't even Dumner) and they might have simply evacuated until the squabble was complete. Had the Daedra been completely successful at Kvatch, the area might have been resettled (by Daedra of course), some parts re-used and the rest rebuilt in to some other kind of city or fortress; Kvatch's position as rock fortress city was quite unmatched in Cyrodiil.
Just my thoughts anyway.

Excelent points lightwave, excelent points.
They also open up possibilities for mass destruction, with those looking to rebuild, also with those who have despaired and gone elswhere, as far as I can tell, it allows for the incorporation of all ideas in a very logical fashion.
On a side note, I can barely type Elswhere anymore, I also have to retype it since it comes out Elsweyr.
