The larger buildings though just seem insane, 7 times or so the size of the guy in the screenie, I have to wonder how they built soemthing that big with medieval tools, it being round and all [...]
The Cheops pyramid, built some 4500 years ago, was 140 meters (482 feet) high. The Pharos lighthouse, built some 2200 years ago, is believed to have been about 117 metres high. :elk:
Sorry, I just like to reference them now and then when folks say a building is impossibly large for a medieval / fantasy setting. They really could build structures ten times as large as the Redoran buildings in ancient times.

Anyway back on topic, if you have a poll make sure to put in a decent summary of the two viewpoints, not just asking what looks better.
The poll does seem to be a good idea. Since your viewpoint is they should be smaller, and I both respect that opinion and want a fair vote, could I ask you to sum up the arguments for a reduction, and I can provide the arguments I see against it, and then we can present both cases in the initial post of the vote?

Except it took quite a long time to build them... not to mention the workforce needed. On EACH building.

Ill just state my opinion on the whole size issue. I agree with RW on the fact that they were too small in MW. Though if we look at this on a purley oblivion scale, I still think they are too big. The comparason image given by razorwing shows the basic redoran hut next to an imperial inn. I don't find this to be a fair comparison, since the imperial inn is designed to house many more people than a redoran hut. To be realistic, I think we should get teh basic hut to be about the size of one of those smaller imperial cottages, like the one shown in one of the first OB screenshots.
About the texture shadow thing: Wow! I can see why you really want to do that to the textures! I still haven't figured out why the UVs arn't transfering on this end, I will keep working on it though!

Ok, nevermind about the vote then.
If you resize them, I can remap them, no problem. It'd be a great help if the entrance part of the models remained the same size and just the bodies sized down.
Edit: With the buildings currently in limbo, I went back to Caligula's treasure trove and started editing the first awning. Then I found out about NifSkope's ability to export meshes from old TES3 nif's, so I got inspired to model a couple of accessory models myself (the paper lantern and urn; the crate is mine too, but an older model). You wouldn't think you were looking at an Oblivion mod if you saw this picture, huh?

Low poly awnings FTW!
We have GOT to redo that leather. :-D

And perhaps have a variant that has an entrance that fits more perfectly around the door without a doorjamb. Just another thing to make it less same-y.

Just a thought, I think the textures should have more creemy bronze color to them, just so they look less pink and more like the structures from MW.

Yup yup yup. If Caligula's having another go at editing them then it would be most helpful, and a visual improvement, if the entrances turned out completely uniform, removing the need for doorjambs. It's not a big problem from a modding standpoint of course, but I think it would be an improvement.

Oih oih, could you post .obj's or .nif's? I'd love to get my hand on some of those and add on more textures! It'd be pretty fun lookin'

The original .obj files for the awnings were posted here.
