Personally quite nice so far i think. I like the colourfulness too.. you might want to check and maybe make little modifications to brightness whenever you got more done and can see full result of more combinations of new stuff.. but its mostly good imo. Cyrodiil places look more "down to earth" and duller.. which is good there. Mixing with this your stuff could look out of balance.. but in case you keep this new stuff as much apart from Cyrodiil objects as possible.. it creates more colourful and mystic surroundings.. and that would create different looking world i think you could really feel youre some new place when you leave Cyrodiils border. Promising i think. :goodjob:

I dont know why, but everything looks so bright and happy.... not a complaint I gues, but its bothering me....
Looks like the lighting to me, everything has a kind of purplish color, look at the road, plus the buildings still need Zarf to do his shadow thing.

I agree, everything is too vibrant. Maybe the stones on the ground need to be some sort of marble instead of granite. A really chunky looking marble. :-D
And uh, my textures totaly need to be darkened. That, or I need to make a brighter base border texture.
EDIT: Tibmaker, could you make some leather? I tried and failed miserably... I think I'd best leave this one to you.

? This is what it looks like during sunshine; bright and happy, like sunshine is: -link-
? And this is overcast and snowfall: -link-
? Finally, this is what it looks like during a rainy thunderstorm: -link-
See how it gets progressively less bright and happy?
IIRC, I added a slight bluish tint to the air when it's snowing in Reich Parkeep, because I think it plays into the affect that we're a looong way north of any location you'd find in Cyrodiil. I like it that way.
I'm not denying that the textures on the buildings would look even better with artificial, painted-on shadows though. And that might go some way towards lessening the impression of brightness, probably to greater effect than messing with the weather. =)

I attempted mapping the Redoran Hut this evening...
I almost did something nifty looking. Took me 4 hours, and I finally got everything nearly mapped, but it still doesn't look very good. I'd consider me mapping buildings a lot cause, therefore either we have to get UVWs from Blender in to 3DS, or we need somebody with 3DS who would be willing to get the models mapped.
Caligula, could you go through your methods of saving OBJs like I went through my methods of importing them? I feel like we are right on the brink of figuring something out.
EDIT: And Razorwing, you can see that I described face lighting accurately. Faces not exactly pointing at the sun are darker than others, but light isn't blocked by static meshes. You can kinda see shading going on there, but take a look at that first building. That's never going to look right until we get the shadows baked on. :-D

How I save in .obj: First I highlight the file tab, then I to go export, then I click "wavefront .obj" and save it. Thats about all there is to it for me. :/ I will try the Nifscope thing suggested by Tibmaker, it may solve out problems.
Those pictures look awesome! I like my statue . Did you do something to the size of those buildings? They don't look quite so crazy big in those pics, its good to see so I can most accuratly determine how much I need to scale. :goodjob:

Zarf: Yes, I noted that as well further up in the thread, when I first understood how you meant. I totally agree with you that it would look better with painted shadows.
Caligula Superfly: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. =) Nope, the size of them are exactly the same. Perhaps they seem smaller because there are more, or other, objects in those screenshots that change the perception of size. I totally understand how hard it must be for someone else than me to get an idea of how they look and feel in-game from just the screenshots, but as luck would have it, Alpha 04.5 is just an hour or so away from release. And then you guys could check them out in-game too, maybe that will make it easier to judge how much you want to resize the buildings.

Cool! Ill make sure to ckeck it out. Just out of curiosity, do you want me to just adjust the size of everything and the shape of the entryways, or do you actually want me to make all of the entryways look the same? I should probably know before I do too much.
EDIT: THIS JUST IN! I CAN UPLOAD THE UV DATA USING NIFSKOPE! :bananarock:   :jump:  :applause:  :bananarock: :wasted:

Rofl, so problems solved?
