- Ibsen's Ghost - 06-14-2010 Yes, I see the sense in that and it ultimately has to be down to your judgement but, whilst fully in awe of your modelling skills, SG I have to have some reservations in terms of achieving the overall look. There are lots of good pieces in that tileset that look non-Fort-like such as this: http://www.oblivion-blog.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Holiday/Marauder.jpg but I do worry a little about the amount of work such an overhaul would require. I really don't want to send anyone off on a fruitless escapade that is ambitious but flawed (after all, those tend to be the ingredients of every failed mod). Leo Gura, in creating the mossy caves for 'Lost Spires', managed to do a good overhaul using carefully chosen textures but it was a bitch for me to get the filepaths right and even then there are still clashes where the seams don't quite match up perfectly. What works best is simply altering the colours and texture properties of the existing textures but that leads to an unoriginal effect. Granted, merging the exterior tileset to existing cave meshes might well work but isn't it likely to crank up the fps? And, in my experience, tileset merging is very tricky. There are always loose edges. Maybe the best option is to pick out vanilla tileset sections (like the link above) that you know you can segue effectively into some original models via a few linking tiles. With the linking tiles and the odd original hall/passage then it would cut down on the amount of modelling and perhaps 'borrow' bits and pieces from a variety of tilesets. Naturally, I wouldn't go for many different ones, of course (because it would jumble the effect), there would furthermore have to be some sort of logic to the transitions and there shouldn't be too many tiles overall (saves on work and memory space besides encouraging a sense of 'primitive monotony'). So if you think it's do-able then it would probably need pre-planning in order to figure out how a potential dungeon would look once modded. But I guess you're already thinking along those lines... ...oh, and yeah, original parts, however small, do offer a lot of scope for some lovely original traps...but those can come later. - sHAdowgAme - 06-16-2010 ingame argonian totem models. Each one is 300 tris One wood and one stone. Not too jazzed about the texture, but i'm moving onto the next one. - Koniption - 06-16-2010 Alright! We're finally getting some totem poles! Totems have been needed for a long while. And you did a great job on the ones in the pic. Koniption - Ibsen's Ghost - 06-16-2010 Yeah, a shame about the texture. The definition isn't clear in the format transference. They're still lovely pieces though. :goodjob: Did you check through my comments in my post above? - sHAdowgAme - 06-16-2010 Yeah. I have a few more ideas on what to do for the HT dungeon, but ill worry about it when i get too it - Ibsen's Ghost - 10-10-2010 I've been considering Helstrom recently so I sent SG a PM about the big temple model. I'm hoping to go for a model similar to the Mayan temple at Chichen Itza but with SG's special stamp on it. However, it may be useful to contact mr_siika about this model. He's the sort of modder that would relish a challenge like this. I'll wait to hear what SG says.... - sHAdowgAme - 11-26-2010 Hey all! Real life is getting too demanding for me to stay on this project. I mean i didn't "die" or "get hired by blizzard entertainment" or anything. I have actually decided to become a ninja butt pirate and sail the seven seas of Barack Obama's anus. It will be a long journey and I don't know if I will still be Jewish when I return. I will be taking my seven horny, pot-smoking wives and all of my nazi-gold with me as well. Sadly, this means I will not be able to lend any out to you fools for a while. But I hear that the economy is picking up in America (and therefore the rest of the world, save Australia, due to the Aboriginal Uprising currently taking place there, killing thousands upon thousands of pregnant women and small adorable puppies) so maybe you'll all find comfortable high salary employment jobs. Here are the models I had completed that I hadn't uploaded yet. http://www.austinhart.com/HTstuff.zip All models are in .obj format with .mtl file which accompanies each one (don't delete it until you have finished importing it) The other models I uploaded before can be found at http://www.austinhart.com/HTset.zip I may drop in with something every once and a while, but it's not likely. Thanks for everyone putting up with my ass. You're all cocksuckas, and I love you all. sHAdowgAme out, yo. - Ibsen's Ghost - 11-26-2010 Take care with Obama's anus, particularly after he's been shitting himself with the recent polls. Those seas may prove treacherous! ...but you couldn't let me have a lend of one of your wives and a little bullion though, could you? Thanks a lot for the models, SG! Best of luck to you! And sorry to see you (sort of) go. Just one thing: if you happen to have any more texture variations based on those that you used for this set then it would help me to expand on the tileset a little using other's work... - Xae - 11-26-2010 Too bad you can't be around SG, but you've done great work. Good luck with... eh, whatever it is that you'll be doing. Quote:Originally posted by Ibsen's Ghost Don't you mean "others' work" or "the work of others"? Permanent proof of grammar mistake! - Ibsen's Ghost - 11-26-2010 True...or perhaps "another's work". My grammar isn't brilliant. My spelling, however, is invoincible. =) And, hey, I'm a moderator. I could always delete your post and pretend it never happened.... |
