Quest idea: The war with Blacklight |
|
This is within Windhelm. Skyrim wants to conquer Morrowind and has sent
its forces to take care of it. But it has been stopped by the forces of
Blacklight. The forces of Blacklight has been depreciated due to the
forces of Oblivion but has held its own. Windhelm wants to make peace
with Blacklight but cannot due to the war. So Windhelm wants to bypass
Blacklight by way of a treaty. But Blacklight won't without guarantees.
So the PC will have to find out what Blacklight wants in to prevent a
war between the two. What do you think?

Good idea there could be two options.
1 Persuade to stop. (High personality and speechcraft). If not than you owuld have to pay a lot of money
2 Just go to war (For low personality and poor characters)
3 Go to war, but somehow persuade something that would make the war less difficult (For medium personality hybrid characters.)

But Blacklight is an Imperial city, right? So wouldn't that mean Skyrim would be declaring war on Cyrodiil?

You are right Razor. But with the Oblivion conflict it can be
different. That is where the the treaty comes in. Blacklight would
rather have a treaty than war and that's where the questline come in.

Just a thought, but although cities are called Imperial or Dunmer, they
are still under the Aegis of the Dunmer King in Imperial ways of
thinking, so maybe the whole thing is a mite more involved than a
battle takes place quest?
Why not work this up with Galrina? So that you both have different
aspects of the same base precepts? There would be things that happen in
Skyrim that would be totally unknown in Morrowind, and events and
cultural things that the nords would not ever consider, so you can
easily preserve the different dirctions you want to develope.
Consider that although there is a Nord invasion for you to cope with,
it would not be likely to equal the events of Red Mountain centuries
before. So that the Nords involved might not be entirely sanctioned...?
Perhaps they are very young and rash, rather than the great singers?
That would set the kind of weaponry and magic available to them...
Galrina's assistance should be invaluable in this aspect, and that exchange should help her to balance her own mod...
And very importantly, her working with you should help you set the
stage for her Skyrim and also advertise to players that there is more
to come up north...just a thought...?

I remember hearing some where Blacklight is its own and Barony and has
to defend itself. So therefore they have to garrison an army and have
guilds to help defend the citizens of this grand city?

The three obvious guilds will be there, Fighters, Mage's, and Thieves. As I think about it, there may be more.

If the quest could be activated after the Main Quest was completed it
would be more realistic. You know, with the empire slowly dissolving
without an emperor and all. Maybe some Nord chieftains wants to
seperate Skyrim from the empire and starts raiding imperial cities.
Just a thought.

Interesting thought. Since the Skyrim war is with the Redoran the war
will really be with Cormaris View. Since Blacklight considers it a
sister city, it does all it can to protect it.
