could it be that a city is under Blacklight?-
in the time of the Dwemer, the Dwemer had ruled what is now Velothi
Mts., Vvardenfell, northern Telvanni and northern Redoran lands.... so
this city COULD be a Dwemer city
- the city could be the remains of a great Velothi settlement
or even a Redoran settlement, but then again a Redoran settlement under
an Imperial city is unlikely, I mean the Redoran are more recent than
Velothi folks and Dwemer, a city of their architecture probably still
stood when Imperials invaded, if so, then the Imperials probably razed
it to the ground, probably not burying it
- the city could be an ancient Nordic town buried under a land-slide or something... perhaps?
- the city could be a partially-underground orc city, now
totally buried... the Orcs lived in the Wrothgarian & Dragontail
Mts. area, as well as the NE Skyrim/NW Morrowind area long ago... so it
IS possible
the Nord city and Orc city are not as likely... but the Velothi or Redoran and Dwemer are not that original...
so I dunno if it is Rodan's own baby-plan but I was just wondering about it...

Since a lot of things point to Blacklight being the intended capital of
House Redoran, perhaps the Blacklight in our mod could be made out to
be as it was built on the ruins of the once-Redoran capital? Just a thought.

Whataever you do, you want to give it an air of mystery. I want to know
whats down there, and feel like an explorer, findin information on it
bit by bit. Thinking tresure is always just a few more corners away.

whoa... inspiration!!!
perhaps in the BlackLight Sewers you stumble upon a crack in the wall that looks suspicious...
clicking on the wall reveals a text messege:
"The sewer wall feels strange, as if a light push would knock it over..."
and clicking again will break it down...
going into the large expanse you will see a large cavern... and one one
side of this cavern you will see a sort of cliff but half of it has
fallen down in a sort of mudslide. There is an underground 'lake', and
in the side of the cliff you see terraces and Velothi and Redoran
buildings but they have a much browner hue to them, and older style of
architecture.... many are ruined... and there are the ruins of Imperial
siege towers near the 'lake'
this is infact what (in my version) was Blacklight. One of the few
Redoran ports. It was strong as it was built into the cliff but in a
natural harbor (like a fjord) and so was not only protected from the
storms of the sea, but also from land enemies as descent into the
harbor was difficult except from the main road, heavily guarded by
Redoran warriors of old.
However, the ingenious Imperials, learning of this formidable ancient
capitol of the Redoran sent their legions down both the road and
shipped siege groups by sea and blockaded the port. Eventually they
could not defeat the Redoran who had left brave warriors there and
moved their councilors to Kragenmoore and Silgrad (Tel-Kogo) for
safety.
Therefore, realizing that they had commited so much of their resources
to conquering this ex-capitol and understanding this siege was now
fruitless, they undertook an extremely destructive policy. In order to
take the city, Battlemage battlaions were all gathered, and the Legion
sent to assault the Redoran City. As the weary Legions continued their
assault, the Battlemages were ordered to break the edge of the cliff
from above. This killed many of them as a large part broke and many
fell with the land-slide. However, much of the harbor was filled in,
the Redoran city buried, along with three crack legions and half of the
Battlemages. But this desperate move finally beat the Redoran of
Blacklight.
Eventually, an Imperial city was built on the ruins and instead of a
harbor it was now a gradual valley by the time Imperials began actually
settling Morrowind. However, though much was excavated for the
foundation building, the end of the sewers rested on the old Imperial
siege wall (built to prevent further Redoran rscape and sallies) and so
the ruins of Blacklight were never discovered since the engineers never
went past the old wall and if any did, they kept it secret...
here is an Anasazi ruin near Mesa Verde, it is from an ancient
Native American civilization of what is now Southwest USA, and it is my
inspiration for how the city WAS and why it is still partially intact
and why underground

and also below is 2 silly little diagram....

how it was buried and built over

so what do you think of my idea?

What if, in order to find these ruins, you heard ramblings form a man
who seems somewhat mad. He tells you of an extraneough place he's been
to that is near the coast. Maybe even have some riddle so it takes the
player some time to find this place, and then the player has to dive
off the coast into the sea, and swim down to find a passage, which is
rather long, but eventually leads to an unexplored cavern under the
city of blacklight. You come up in a dark, dank cavern that is above
the water, like kukulza's drawings. even though the cavern is dark and
dank, you see ruins. Looking further into this almost pitch black
ruins, you find the remains of the underground city. this could be part
of like an archeology quest, where once you find this city, you report
findings, and investigate it more, learning about its past.
Parts of the ruined city will be flooded and there can be tons of treasure, loot, and history in this city.

And an explanation of why it's buried and not talked about. A dark secret.

Heh, heh,. It works KKA!
And it could be that the Redoran secret was the genocide of the
previous inhabitants! = a further cave behind that cave - you might do
several of these, making the Black Heart of the secret:
1) a Daedra who is bound to the location and thrives on genocide, contolling those who come into his/her influence; or
2) a totally new beasty that feeds on such events - see D. Foxeys Tale
about the emotion-feeding, mind invading Vampire...that is a very
scaary storey that could be the Lore basis for this whole thing...

ok, short of ideas for this, but maybe this can somehow tie to how
blacklight was first given its name. That would be a nice twist |

Maybe we should wait for Rodan's input, since it's his decision?

Old discussion, I know, but bump anyway. I think the idea might be a
good one (I've been thinking along similar lines), and I'd like to hear
Rodan's input.

Originally there was a Daedric dungeon underneath Blacklight called
appropriately ???????????? . It was supposed to be found after the
Ebony mine came upon the entrance (the mine was built, had a number of
daedra attacking the PC as the person went downward). I always had the
Dwemer ruin at the Observatory (called the Amruk Observatory).
Beneath the sewers, have to give it a thought.
