This thread is for discussion, developing, brainstorming, and naming
Senaria's races. I'm open to suggestions for more races, but that
should probably be kept to a minimum. (Human races get names from the
nations they are from). If you think something in my small summary of
the races should be changed, don't hesitate to comment. Also, I need
ideas for racial powers and strengths/weaknesses.
Aelorkan Humans:
Simple farmers, hunters, and traders from the fertile western valleys.
Real world English/Saxon and Germanic cultural influences. They will
just be Bretons rescaled to be bigger and beefier-- larger and heavier
than Nords.

Salondegon Humans: (will need a new face model and new textures)
Draw cultural influence from real world Mexicans, and resemble them in
features. Make a living as merchants, sailors, and farmers. There
country is an everglades type area.

Nomadic Desert Humans: (will need new base head and textures)
Culturally similar to real world pre-Islamic Bedouins. Simple and
superstitious, fierce fighters and horsemen that survive primarily by
hunting and raiding. Arabian features, dark skin, hooked noses, angled
features.

Armugian Humans (new head model will be needed)
In ancient times these volcanic wastelanders ruled all of Senaria
during an era of piece and prosperity, but when the volcano, Mt.
Armugius, at the heart of their nation erupted and ripped the continent
asunder, that hold was lost. Culturally similar to real-world Romans.
Are excellent soldiers, diplomats, and business men. Very angled,
austere facial features. Unique culturally in the sense that they are a
democracy.

Honestly nothing terribly special or unique about these guys. Live on

real world culture influence similar to western Europe. They can
probably be rescaled Imperials.

Yrgakheustch Humans (may need new base head and textures)
They dwell in the North Eastern bogs and pine forests. Culturally
similar to real world Vikings. Very savage, very tough, they prize
strength personal honor greatly. Generally they make a living as
sailors, hunters, or raiders. In appearance they are very short--Bosmer
sized, and more heavily musceled than an orc.

Non-humans
Elves: (I was thinking of calling them Senmer, but I'm not sure)
The Elves have closed themselves and their society almost completely
off from the rest of the world since the eruption of Mt Armugius and
the sundering; hiding away in the massive enchanted forest of Northern
Senaria. They live in harmony with nature, in magically created,
organic buildings. Elves are exceptionally tall, pale, beautiful, and
graceful.

The small, mysterious, fay-folk dwell deep within the forests with
Elves and Satyrs. They generally dwell in grottos or simply out in the
open, but sometimes they will live in Elven homes.

Manbeasts: (good real name needed, as well as new models and texes)
Savage "beasts" that roam the deserts of Senaria. Extremely violent,
uncivilized-- generally live underground, but they are known to live in
tents, ruins, or structure's who's owner's who have been slain.
Manbeasts live in tribes Feature wise they look like very large, heavy
orcs with horns and elven ears.

"Raptor Men": (need a good name, something savage that says "hiss")
The Raptor Men inhabit the southern jungles of Senaria. Generally they
live in small hunting tribes, as they are carnivorous. They have
gathered together into a few large cities though, which are spectacular
works of art. Massive pyramids remniscent of the real world Aztecs claw
the sky, dedicated to the cruel gods of the Raptor Men. There is also
limited Hindu influence in Raptor Man architecture. Despite their
seemingly primitve nature, they are more technologically advanced than
some humans. Culturally Raptor Men are extremely courteous and
honorable, yet at the same time cruel and ruthless. Not only will they
eat a human, but they will eat one of their own if hungry enough. Each
day they sacrifice hundreds of slaves atop their pyramids to their
gods. Appearance wise Raptor Men are bright blue with feathered heads,
long snouts, narrow eyes; they stand roughly 7 feet tall, have tails,
and are extremely heavily musceled.

Satyrs: (We'll need a way to give them the goat legs, I'm
thinking a pair of pants and boots, and then scripting them to not be
able to equip pants and boots)
The playful Satyrs live in the dense northern forests with the elves
and fairies. Generally Satyrs live in caves. Despite their small
stature and simple, playful nature, Satyrs are exceptional fighters and
mages.

Whew, thats about it. There's more though. I'd like to have some kind
of race that inhabits the massive southern mountain range of Senaria. I
was thinking little white, furry monkey men, but I'm not sure. Anybody
got ideas? This post has been edited 1 time(s), it was last edited by Siegfried: 2006.11.19 20:05.

Are there going to be any races from vanilla Oblivion?

Only if they have immigrated from Tamriel. I'm considering making it
possible to find the occasional Dark Elven sailor in the ports, as
Morrowind is the nation nearest to Senaria. |

In a story I once wrote there was a race of lizard men called the
K'szkil. You're welcome to use the name if you need one :-)
Regarding the white monkey-men, there is a mod for Oblivion that makes monkey-men: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=24710
Would it be possible (with permission) to retexture & resize?

Hmm, how about Quo'szkgil for raptor men?
We could us that mod with the Tang Mo, If we do though I'd like to
modify the face a bit so that he doesn't look so stern. Is there
something cooler than monkies we can have though?
Also I want to come up with a way to make the Yrgakheustch Humans to
look really unique, or maybe even go so far as replacing them with a
beast race. Any ideas? I've been looking at the Morrowind concept art,
and I think we should go with something somewhat Morrowind esque for
them? |

Maybe...I dunno... I prefer Quo'zskgil though, reminds me of
Quetzal-Coautl, the Aztec serpent god. Both the lizard men and the god
have a sacrifice theme going on. |

I think many people will identify with the lizard/aztec thing... quite
a few different fantasy worlds use that theme. Quo'zskgil sounds good.

I'm going to make a suggestion for the beast men. Seeing as they have
an orcish/beastly appearance we could either associate them with
another mythical type of creature or they might be some sort of hybrid
race. I don't know the full history behind these creatures. One thing
to consider, when visualizing the description you give for them, I'd
say they could be a more evolved form of Ogres, possibly something
close to the ones you see in WoW with a lighter skin tone and have the
added hairyness as they are "beast" men after all. If this sounds like
a good idea, they could be called Ogre-kin or some weird fictional
name, so maybe Okk-delar or Augra-kar (yea I just thought of those off
the top of my head...) and maybe have a backstory into their own
language, so those fictional race names could mean Ogre-kin or maybe
Ogre Beasts.
Just a thought but it seemed cool to me.

Maybe an entire race of were-wolfs?
They could be like Cyrodiil's goblin tribes. And doesn't Skyrim have wolf models made that we could use?

Not Werewolves you Thilly-Willy! Wolfmen that function exactly like the
beast races,Werewolves are men that turn into big savage wolf creatures
at night, what my idea is saying is to make a whole new beast race

So it's half man half wolf all the time and doesn't try to kill you?
But that would be a good idea!

My original idea was that the manbeasts were once elves, but when their
forests were burned down, since elves have a special bond with the
woods, they were twisted into monsters. |

That's a cool idea. Or what if the concept "Native Americanish" race be
somewhat in a war with the elves turned monsters for parts of the
mountain? |

There could be minor skirmishes, but the manbeasts generally stick to the deserts.
