About the elves though, they've totally severed connection with the
outside world, and now hide away in their forests. So they wouldn't
purchase slaves, plus their architecture is magically "grown". |
how.... stereotypical... grown...
"oh we're elves and we're also tree huggers with pointy ears and we
like plants and we grow our homes, we're real natural and we can talk
to animals and heal people with our hands and like the forest and shoot
with bows and we feel that humans find us attractive since we wear very
little clothing and we have big breasts, despite being very athletic
and having night vision and being very environmentalists who don't mind
killing creatures in other lands cause they are evil, but we aren;t
cause we're good so its okay to kill things we don't like...
we're elves...
"
well its a good but overused idea in my opinion.... what if they don't
grow their homes..... their homes get made for them... what if they
kill giant forest badger things and use their dens... or maybe they
pray to their god long enough and the diety will create a home... liek
Daedra made the Daedric shrines/ruins...

What if they "sang" their homes? Basically they sing to the tree
spirit, and the trees slowly morph into the form that would be useable
for a home.
Hmm, the problem with getting a way from the "high and mighty we're
perfect" thing with the elves, is that generally the role that elves
are meant to play in a fantasy racial heirarchy is the uber
sophisticated peace loving secret protecting pretty people. I kind of
want these elves to be like that, but at the same time as you get to
know them, it turns out they aren't so great. Their society has become
stagnant and decadent from years of isolationism. Their culture is
hypocritical (and maybe they will have some dark secret)? |

Originally I was thinking that before the sundering the Armugians had
conquered everyone and then established a kind of pseudo-democracy.
Maybe the nations all live in peace under the Armugian democracy, but
there is some kind of a law voted on and passed (since it is a
democracy) that the elves are bitterly opposed too, say it takes some
of their land away for logging purposes (yeah I really need something
better). Now, this really hurts the ego's of the elves. One of the
Elven Generals rallies his men and takes them to the site of the land
that is meant to be taken over for whatever reasons and kills the
lumbejacks. The Armugians then dispatch forces to challenge the elves.
The elves are able to route the men with the help of the forest
spirits. Furious, the Armugians attack an elven settlement and
slaughter its inhabitants.
Relations between the elves and the rest of the world are
disintegrating, especially with humans. Things get bad to the point
where the Elven General is able to become military-dictator of the
elves. From there he proceeds in waging a war against the rest of the
world. Most elven offensives fail, as the elves are severely
outnumbered, but they fend off all attacks, because they are able to
call on the forest spirits and creatures for aid.
Eventually the humans get fed up and call together their mages and
start a massive forest fire. Where there is desert now, once that was
all forest. Thousands of elves are killed. In a last ditch effort to
stop the fires, the elves make a pact with Daedra X, and in return he
moves the tectonic plate, creating the massive gorge at the top of the
desert so the fires can advance no farther, and the elven capital is
saved. The flip side is that movement of the plate triggered massive
earthquakes all across Senaria, parts of land actually fell into the
ocean. It also caused the massive and up until that point dormant
volcano that the Armugians had bulit their capital on to errupt. The
eruption was so extreme that it blasted Armugia away from the main
land, not to mention obliderated the capital city, killing countless
leaders from across Senaria.
Now their is total chaos. Pretty much everyone hates the elves, well,
the humans at least. The problem is that the humans are in complete
dissarray, they have no idea what to do without the Armugians in
charge. The Beast races aren't any better off. Their more tribal
culture allows them to cope with the loss of leadership better, but at
the same time they have less unity and sophistication than the human
races.
The elven general seizes the oppurtunity to gain the upper hand during
the dissarray. Daedra X demands sacrifices for moving the tectonic
plate, but the elves don't have a way to repay him. If he starts going
out and capturing people and sacrifincing them himself, the elven
general fears he will be overthrown. So he develops an insidious plot.
He sends one of his wizards to the capital of the noble raptor men,
then the wizard places a mind control spell over the raptor man leader.
From there the wizard manipulates the raptor man leader to spread
propoganda making raptor man culture violent so the raptor men will
worship Daedra X and make the sacrifices to him.
The next step is to find a way to quietly acquire sacrifices for Daedra
X. At this point in time many more beast races existed on Senaria. The
elven general realizes that at this point the humans are rallying and
organizing themselves, but they have yet to integrate the beast races.
So he begins spreading lies ammongst them that this is a war against
humans, and that humans are allying to enslave the other races. While
the warriors of the beast races are off doing battle against the
humans, the raptor men's thugs quietly make the women, children, and
weak who stayed home "disappear" to satiate Daedra X's hunger. The
Fairies and Satyrs were the only ones spared (besides the raptor men,
who were doing the killing), because the elves viewed them like younger
siblings.
When the human mages incinerated the big peace of forest, the death of
the spirits caused a reaction on the elves that did not die. They were
transformed into the manbeasts, though deeply scarred emotionally, they
retained their memories and minds. They sought out help from their
brethren, but were reviled. The elves saw them as abominations and
tried to enslave them, but the manbeasts fought free. They fled into
the deserts and fought with a vengeance against their former people--
and so began their savage culture.
There was one beast race (the suggested monkey men) that dwelt high in
the southern moutains. They felt they would be safe there, and sought
to remain neutral. They had seen enough destruction. When they refused
to ally with the elves, the raptor man attacked their most vulnerable
village, sacked it, and dragged off the villagers to be sacrfices.
Furious, the beast race joined forces with the humans and fought
valiantly against the elven general and his followers. By the wars end,
they were almost completely extinct, and the survivors chose to vanish
into the mountains.
So to make a long story short, the elven warlord is out of control.
Finally the humans, undecided beast race, and manbeasts pull it
together under one mighty hero. They drive the raptor men back into
their jungles and seal them away there. The main force (about a third
of them are needed to keep the raptor men under control) of the allies
cross the desert and beat their way through the forests to the elven
capital, eventually conquering it. The elven general is empowered by
Daera X though, and beats his way out of the city. The human hero
chases him down and battles him, killing him in the end. Where his
blood was spilled, the land is corrupted and the forest becomes cursed.
So, finally there is peace, but the peace and harmony of the old days
has been obliderated, the land torn apart, races exterminated, others
corrupted, and massive casualties on the parts of the survivers. The
elves, satyrs, and fairies seal themselves away from the rest of the
world. The raptor men are to broken and corrupt to fight the outside
world, and so turn on eachother. During the lifetime of the hero the
different human races and the manbeasts live in peace together. After
his death though politics takes its course, the various cultures begin
quarreling ammongst eachother, the manbeasts are chased out into the
deserts. Eventually it all breaks a part into the modern day nations.
.wow.. that was like a complete history of Senaria...
