Noob Needs Help. (please) |
|
I'd LOVE to have this mod when it is finished... I got Oblivion a few
weeks ago... I'm what you would call a "noob." I haven't finished the
main quest or any of the factions because I've finally settled on my
character, Nord Barbarian. I have it for the Xbox 360 because my
Computer couldn't handle it... Are all mods available for the computer
available for the 360? Thank you.

Ah no sorry hate to burst your bubble but this is only for the PC version.
You have two things you can do though.
Download the TES Construction Set and learn how to make interiors to help Skyrim's development.
Or.
Just stick to buying Bethesda's DLC

Hi Karzan,
DLC = Down Load Content (I think). I can think of some more graphic, but less kind words for those letters.
As far as the fighting goes, there isn't much of a problem using the KB and mouse for the game.
But yeah, just playing around with the Construction set without being
able to try out the new content in-game isn't all that much fun. One
thought I have, if your comp isn't TOO weak, there's a program called
"OldBlivion" that can usually get OB to run. It's not the greatest -
unless it's all you can do.
But stick around - who knows, you might get a better comp some day soon, and then you can waste LOTS of time!

THe reason this mod and all usemade mods are only for the PC version is
that you need to download the mod and install it with usually windows
explorer. Further the games are different (PC and X360) and I'm pretty
sure that if you want to play a mod on your X360 they need to be
altered with the X360 SDK, which you'll never be able to get your hands
on

Those..... BASTARDS!!!!!
<cocks shotgun>
I need to start saving up my money....
I have my computer... And my dad's really good computer... You see the
thing is... When I tried installing Oblivion on my dad's computer it
kept saying something about not being able to install DvDs or some such
crap.... I returned it so I can't tell you exactly... I guess I'll buy
it again.
IF I get it to work on my dad's computer... And that's a big IF.... I
probably will have beaten regular Oblivion on the Xbox 360... So my
question is... Will the monsters be leveled so I can fast travel to
Bruma and explore Skyrim right off the bat at level 1?

I'm pretty sure they are, but if Skyrim wants the same more
Morrowindish feeling like Valenwood wants, the leveling will be less.
So on lvl 1 you'll get areas with creatures that just are to touch.

ideas:
- At least get Win XP, if possible wait a few months and get Vista.
- As a processor either get a AMD64 dualcore or a Pentium Dualcore. I
say go with the AMD, but if Pentium is cheaper, go Pentium. AMD is
usually better for gaming though.
- For a graphic card get one that can handle DirectX 10. Really buying
a card taht can only handle DirectX9 is a waste of money. In 2 years
you get tons of games that run DirectX 10 only (Crysis, Halo2)
- DDR ram I say got get 2 GB. nothing less. That works really well with a dualcore
- No idea how far you can push your dad but it's nice to get a silent cooler. Or try an extra cooler for your graphic card.
just try www.tweakers.net if you can read dutch. It has awsome reviews on hardware. Another idea is getting this in a notebook
Depending if you go to college/uni any time soon. Then a notebook may be a good option. If you're not, stick to a pc.

Thank you very much... He told me to wait for Vista too... And seeing
as Skyrim is a long way off... I think I will... If I wait for Vista...
Is everything else you said still holding? Or would you have to revise
that list?

not really, Dualcore processor is what you really need. For a graphic
card you do really need a DirectX 10 supported card. Just an extra
idea, get a double with SLI support. Google SLI support for what it is

"I like a refund"

That could be a CD reader and a CD burner. I also got 2 myself, a DVD
reader and a DVD burner. Look at the tray, it either says CD or DVD

Didn't say this in the other thread, so welcome Karzan.
The others are right, you probably don't have a DVD Drive. If you want
to go the cheapest way out if you've already got a good computer and
just want to get a drive to play Oblivion..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...N82E16827131039
I thought Oblivion came on either DVD or CD(s)? no?
But if you still want to push for that new computer, I can make a list
of something (with links). I myself was planning on building a new
computer because my current one started acting funny on me and I just
need an upgrade, so I found all the parts online and bookmarked them.
Then I was going to get everything once I had the money....but then I
had to reformat and lost all the links. But I did a lot of research and
know what's currently good for the price and what should stay good,
etc. Might not be able to get the list tonight, but within the next few
days I should be able to post it up for you.

Vista is/was scheduled to be out the end of January. But during beta
testing, they found some major hacker window, so there's a bit of
scrambling going on to fix that and look for similar security issues. I
expect there'll be lots of patches and updates for about 6 months, just
as with other huge program releases. The program is truly massive!
re: the Oblivion disk: it's dvd only. That was a source of a lot of
whining when it first came out. But the alternative was something like
8 cd's.
As far as system requirements, read the box. I'm running on an AMD
64-bit processor, which is good. I've got an Invidia 6800, which is ok,
but on the lower end. And I use 1 gig of memory which is not really
enough - get 2 gig in paired 1 gig modules. Oh, and be sure you don't
go cheap on the power supply - at least 500 watts. |

The PS3 does not run Linux by default, only when it is installed
separately by the user. The PS3 version of the game will require the
default firmware and therefore will not run on any Linux distro
installed on the PS3
That is of course assuming you were talking about the PS3 and it's ability to run Linux.
If I used Oldblivion it might be possible though... I'll try that sometime, Although it still won't run natively.
