I thought they paid their tribute so they WOULDN'T have imperials set foot on their lands?
infact the Altmer handle their own affairs right? I mean when Sload and
Maormer attack them the Empire doesn't give a shi crap about it... just
goes to show how much the Empires does.. High Rock is feuding they
don't do anything Skyim attacks they don't do anything, Morrowind is in
a huge feud they don't care, Dres and fighting Argonians, Khajiits want
to take over more land, Bosmer are pushed to extremism... etc.
basically the emprie sucks...

A place holder will only cause pain and suffering for all it touches. I
vote we get started on some glass architecture, because that would make
a wicked teaser, and when we make those few models, we atract more
modelers.

Nothing to gothic, and nothing roman I say, exotic they may be, but
they have been done, this isn't cyrodiil, this is the wonderful world
of summerset! Hey, why not go watch the wizard of oz at the end, the
emerald city is a pretty place.

what I mean is, in Morrowind, this guy would fall from the sky and you
oculd read his diary, he had been developing the supper jump as a means
of travel, it fortified acrobatics 2000 points, and when you jumped,
you could no longer see land and would most assuradly die.

Yes, how cool would it be to actualy use that as a form of travel? Buy
a scroll, would be expensive, we disable fast travel, player leaves an
obscure dungeon on a far out island, and JUMPS to the mainland.

Ah, OK. Thanks for clearing that up. We should probably split this
thread up into multiple discussions, since we're talking about multiple
architecture types now. |

Why not do a rural architecture set made out of wood that looks something like a simplified version of Rivendel from LOTR?

It is one of the oldest civilisations, so a lot of ruins would be
present, as well as some larger cities... Though a lot of the landscape
may be preserved and untouched, or touched by magicka...

Hmm, so all farming will being close into town, also even if lore says
there no rural area we've got to have some form of rest points along
the way.

Well, we've got to be careful around lore, which is EXTREMELY
important... Maybe there can be researchers at caves or something?

Well, the bigger cities might be enough, and there could be mining
villages too (or does that count as rural?)... Research outposts is a
possibility... I say wait until we get to that stage before actually
planning that. I think we definately need some lore... I've got 3rd
edition of the pocket book, so I'll have a look.

Wizards and Warlords... Double-hmm...
So closest big city dominates the smaller settlements... Counts are wizards and warlords (what is the Altmer name for a count?)

But does that mean the settlements are rural... Could be mines, water
supply, or other countless reasons for the town's existence...
Hmm... We could look for some High Elven names for high rank? They seem
to like names like [insert name] of Cloudrest or [insert name] of
Whitehaven...

I thought that the scrolls from Morrowind were written in Aldmeris, and
the map that came with the game? Or is that another language?

Yes, I think that Aldmeris and Daedric are similar, but different...
You could in theory use this map as a translator to Aldmeris (I think
it's Aldmeris anyway)... Dwarves of Morrowind also used Aldmeris and
their own language... I'm not entirely positive about the map, so if
anyone knows?

Hmm... Are you sure it's daedric? I know the "O" is a lot like the
symbol of Oblivion, but... Hmm... I know that Aldmeris is mentioned in
Morrowind, and I think that that is Aldmeris, but I could be wrong.

Some words on Aldmeris and Ehlnofex
CHIM
Meaning: An ancient sigil connoting 'royalty', 'starlight', and 'high
splendor'. As with most characters of that dangerous language, the
sigil CHIM constantly distorts itself. Those scholars that can perceive
its shape regard it as a Crowned Tower that threatens to break apart at
the slightest break in concentration.
Origin: Ehlnofex
Reliable: Yes
Ehlnofey
Meaning: (Also known as Old Ehlnofey or the Earthbones). This world
refers to the place and the people of early Mundus. According to myth,
when the Mundus was created, many aspects of the et?Ada began to die
off. One aspect, Y'ffre, transformed into the Ehlnofey, the Earthbones,
so that the whole world would not die. A large piece of the Ehlnofey
landed on Nirn and remained together (Tamriel). Other Ehlnofey wandered
for ages. The Ehlnofey of Tamriel became the elves. The Wandering
Ehlnofey became Men. Therefore, the Ehlnofey are the ancestors of Mer
and Men.
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Ehlnofex
Meaning: Language spoken by the Ehlnofey (also known as Aldmeris).
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Dwe-
Meaning: Deep, Smart, or Short - This is the root to Dwemer- the word
for the Dwarves. It is thought that Dwe was mistranslated from ''Deep''
to ''Short''. Thus Dwemer became ''Short Folk'' which became Dwarves.
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Dun-
Meaning: Cursed or Dark - The Chimer of Old became the Dunmer directly
after the formation of the Tribunal. For the Tribunal's sin of
oath-breaking, Azura changed their race and ''cursed'' them forever
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Chi-
Meaning: Changed - The throng of Aldmeri who followed the prophet
Veloth in his exodus from Summerset Isle became the Chimer. They
abandoned worship of the Gods, turning instead towards the Daedra,
especially Boethiah, Azura, and Mephala. Because of their shift and
exodus, they were known as the ''Changed Ones''
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Bos-
Meaning: Green, Forest, or ''Tree Sap''
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Bet-
Meaning: Beast
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Aurbis
Meaning: The realm created when Anu (Stasis) and Padomay (Change)
touched. ''It contains the multitude realms of Aetherius and Oblivion,
as well as other, less structured forms.''
Origin: Ehlnofex? Aldmeris?
Reliable: Yes
Aedra
Meaning: Ancestor - The Aldmer believe that they are descended from the Gods. Thus, their word for them is Ancestor, or Aedra
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Aetherius
Meaning: The ''magic plane'' ; it is the realm of the Aedra.
Origin: Ehlnofex? Aldmeris?
Reliable: Yes
Ald-
Meaning: Elder, First
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes
Alt-
Meaning: High
Origin: Aldmeris (and Ehlnofex?)
Reliable: Yes

Doesn't Bos-mer mean People of the Root? Mer meaning Elves, and Bos meaning Root?
