You can have world specific skies... Look at Camoran's paradise for example... Or Oblivion.

I thought oblivion skies was a weather effect?
You can enter that as weather. Yup, I think think thats it.

Actualy I think you can have regiononal skys, look at when you go near a gate the skys turn red, or is that the weather.

That's weather, use a weather changing ring mod and you'll see what I
mean. On a side note, the flamming puppies weather could be good in the
summer time.

You should try avoiding making the sky colors to exotic I think, but making it a bit crazy is fine.
Different sky colors could be influenced by the heavy use of magic by
the high elves in the area, and also its possible that the presence of
the magical Island of Artaeum or whatever its called has some effect on
the skies/weather/climate, as it moves around, it could affect its
surroundings in someway. Also it could just be a climatic thing, based
off the fact that Summerset is an island, and also it is much further
south and west than the other territories of Tamriel. The laws of
weather and such that apply to our earth do not necessarily apply to
Tamriel/Nirn, so theoretically the weather/climate could change as you
move away from the center (Tamriel) of Nirn. |

My thoughts almost exact when I posted this thread. It would also enforce the fantasy theme.

Not to start an argument or anything, but I think it'll add to the
uniqueness of the mod... It doesn't have to be anything spectacular,
just unique to make Summerset more like Summerset (uniqueness).
That's my opinion anyway.

here has been overwhelimingly negative. I think I speak for us all when
I say, your lore input is greatly appreciated , but unless you are
going to join the team, do not go squashing idea on matters of

It may be that if the general landscape and cities are very different,
along with climatic differences then in certain circumstances they will
affect the look of the skies. The air itself both refracts and reflects
light and therefore colours, eh?
But if you just bung in some pretty colours, then you will make many
people feel that you are not serious about this mod being ES... If you
want to give it extra 'mood' and 'feel' then you can be selective about
the weather to some extent - they are called Summerset Isles. There is
a place called Somerset - it is part of the Ancient South Western
peninsula of the British Isles, and is rich in Legends as well as known
for its mild oceanic climate. Also the name reads like summer = time of
the year.
Biiig question could the High Elves have really made their subtle mark
on the weather with magic or whatever? Probably in a way that the
'primitive' Imperials would not understand... but do be subtle. There
must be much in the Lore that has been posted that could give clues.
The success of this mod will come from expanding from those clues in a
convincing and exciting way. So the exciting has to be carefully
expressed...
Obviously the Plane of Oblivion is not only not on the same planet, it
is in another continuum - connected perhaps, but fundamentally
different - if they did the Lore on that properly in Ob. So please take
that difference seriously = there can be no comparison + you will only
ever see a limited part of Oblivion as it is effectively infinite.
ps My preference is for 'golden skies' the light should reflect the
people's nature... If ever there was an idyll, this should be it, wiv a
carefully concealed darker side that pervades and teases, but cannot be
seen without great perception. This is the one Province where classical
culture and Int is all...
Dark As, please forgive me if I say that Lady N's statement:

is actually a deep and perceptive observation. I
believe that we all do truely want to make summerset, so lets look for
the positives in any negatives for the moment, as that is the essence
of brainstorming, which is the starting stage once we have absorbed the
available Lore. Reminds me, there are still some of those lore links I
have to read or reread... raggidman tippytoes back into his shadowy
corner to do some more reading...

I agree, and I lady Nerevar, your ideas have validity, but would be
recieved much more warmly if presented in a friendly and helpful matter

I never meant to make it extraoridnarily different, but to add to the
mood, some uniqueness, and what I always imagined Summerset to be
like... Well, I dunno... It isn't my decision, but it would seem I'm in
yet another core 
so I'm just posting my opinions here. Do whatever you guys (and gal?) think best.

Yeah, subtle highlights in the clouds perhaps... I mean a little
uniqueness, but not over do it... Think of KotOR, the different planets
had different atmospheres (moods)... Maybe we should discuss this one
later, after getting some land done, and decide as a group as the
argument against has its validity.

Dark As, you just gotta understand that Lady N is, well a, ummmm...
lady, right? Like, she doesn't have to justify herself or make nice to
folks, especially as she spends all too much of her precious time in RL
fending off over-amorous suiters.
Essentially you really want to be nice to her, because one day you
might get lucky and she will pat you on the head... or not... and
meantime, we are very lucky that she gives us the benefit of her subtle
wit and intuition.
TID, I for one am very
that you had the idea (it is your thread is it not?) because a little
bit of thought in this direction could produce big dividends.
And I think that we will be very glad to come back to this a bit later on in the creative process.
Nothing wrong with hyper active imaginative stuff in the early stages
so long as you are open to further options and happy to balance things
up as the wild ideas help people focus in on issues they might
otherwise ignore, and then we would all lose out. so

No excuse, the best asset we have at silgrad is IMHO the friendly
environmetn and supportive team, just because people have come to
accept someone as bitchy, doesn't justify the behavour. I would gladly
have her here as a lore master, but if she is going to continue to
respond in such a manner, I would rather have her leave us to fend for
ourselves.
