Summary
The realms of Oblivion will *mostly* be accesible via the Pillar of Thras. The player will jump off and if they are in favor with a Daedric God, then they will step in, and transport them to their realm of existence. There are a few realm that won't be accesible, those are: Clavicus Vile's Realm (because the player goes there via a differnt route) and Peryite's Realm (Because they are inaccesible to mortals, and hence the player won't be able to get there). Some realms will need the player to not only fall in favor with that God, but keep them in Favor, such as with Meridia, if the player falls in with Necromancers, Meridia will bar you from her realm, or with Malacath, if you kill an orc (Except bandits) you will be barred from hid realm (this also includes Orcs that you kill in quests that are "good").

Realms that are done, or don't need planning are: Sheogorath's Realm, Sanguine's Realm, Boethiah's Realm and Clavicus Vile's Realm, Dagon's Realm.

Realms that need planning are:

Namira's Scuttling Void

Not much is said about this realm, apart that it is "Scuttling Void". She would be very protective of the Sload(because of what she represents), so it might be that there are a lot of Sload here.

Azura's Moonshadow - Claimed

quote:
Azura, Lord of Dusk and Dawn, maintains the domain of Moonshadow, a twilight country of shades and half-thoughts. Visitors to this isle have historically come mainly from the Dunmer of eastern Morrowind and the catfolk of Elsweyr, whose people both hold a great affection for the mother of immanence, though by separate roads. At the time of this writing, regular gateways to Moonshadow have been inaccessible for the last several years. Whether this has to do with the unlawful incidents at Hogithum Hall in the Capital City or mere whim of Azura herself, no one can say. Of course, Azura?s most famous acts of recent times is the Incarnation of the Nerevarine, a subject that while far beyond the scope of this pamphlet has been felt to the present day.

From that, it might be best that the Player is transported to these "Hogithum Halls".

Hermaeus Mora's Apcrypha

quote:
Hermaeus Mora, ?the Gardener of Men?, claims that he is one of the oldest Princes, born of thrown-away ideas used during the creation of mortality in the Mundus. Imperial Mananauts have verified that his influence on fate and time is real and unfeigned, implications of which tie this Prince directly with Akatosh, chief of the Nine Divines. Since Akatosh is the prime temporal spirit whose appearance led to the formation of the world, perhaps Hermaeus Mora speaks the truth. Nevertheless, it is the will of His Majesty Uriel VII that only on the official holiday of 5th First Seed should any propitiation to this Daedric Prince be delivered. ?All else is mutation.?

To save on quests, the player could simply be charged with killing the Sload in the quest "Traitors, Villains and Blasphemers" already made. The design of the realm will be shared with ST, as they have already made some plans/shown interest in making it.

Hircine's Hunting Grounds
quote:
The Hunting Grounds are the realms of Hircine, taking the form of islands inhabited by Daedra, in particular Herne and Atronachs. Mortals entering these realms are typically hunted down by the inhabitants.

Sounds like the PC should just survive the hunt. Prehaps a herne picks him out, and the player has to make it out alive. Because the realm is made out of Islands, the realm can be made as large as needed.

Meridia's Colored Rooms - Claimed

quote:
Meridia?s holdings in Oblivion are collectively known as ?The Colored Rooms?. Another Prince whose origins may not entirely be outside of the aetherial, Meridia has at several times been linked to Magnus the Sun. The most famous account of this association is the Tract of Merid-nunda, which overtly casts Meridia in the role of a wayward solar daughter, cast from the heavens for consorting with illicit spectra.

Multi-Coloured rooms, and Auroran Daedra. Light diplays, and optical illusions.

The outline for the main quest of Meridia's Realm can be found HERE.

Mephala?s Realm

quote:
Mephala?s domains in Oblivion are numerous and obscured, collected together by vast strands of magical ghostweb. All of them are devoted to her spheres of sex and secret murder. Echoing this same structure are the various esoteric cults devoted to her across Tamriel, many of which are forbidden by Imperial law. Her aspect is shrouded and manifold, even when she appears in the crowds that gather within her temples during Frost Fall.

Cobwebs we have, and Spider's and Spider Daedra we have.

Malacath's Ashpit

quote:
Malacath holds the hardest to access of Oblivion?s extant lands, the Ashpit. As Prince Patron of the disenfranchised and cast out, it is only reasonable that the pathways to his domain take on a characteristic level of concealment. Orsinium, kingdom of the Orcs, gives Malacath its highest esteem, which is surprising when one considers the normal Orcish revilement of Daedric spirits. One might conjecture then that the rumors of Malacath not being a true Daedroth but an imprisoned aetherial spirit are true. It would certainly fit the Prince of Exile that he be one himself.

A constant ash-storm, in a world populated with the ugliest, and most unloved orcs.

Molag Bal's Coldharbour - Claimed

quote:
Molag Bal, King of Strife, is second only to his brother Prince Mehrunes Dagon in the enmity of our Emperor. His lands are the charnel houses the slave pens of Coldharbour, which hold no contrition for those travelers that visit them in error or purpose. That Molag Bal is allowed his holiday at all hearkens back to a treaty of ancient times, when he reputedly lent his infernal power to the creation of the first soulgems.

I'm thinking that the player gets transported to a slave pen, and has to sneak out. This would all be done in interior cells, as the exterior would be hard (to say the least) to make.

Nocturnal's Realm

quote:
Nocturnal is accorded the title Ur-dra by nearly all the Royalty of Oblivion. As the mother of night, she claims to be an aspect of the original Void itself, and it is generally deemed best to fortify this declaration in one?s evening prayers.

A very hard realm to make, this one I'm thinking that we either get a could way to make it, or we don't make it and it's cut I dunno

Vaernima's Realm

quote:
Vaernima, Prince of Omen and Dream, shares a special mageographic connection with the Mundus, since mortal sleepers often slip into her realm without any help at all. Traditional sacrifice to Vaernima is held on the 10th of Suns Height, but as with most luck spirits, prayers to this Daedric Prince occur quite frequently, and not always before bedtime.

Constantly changing. This will be heavily scripted, and the player wil only be able to come to her realm once. Survive it and the player can leave. Each "Nightmare" needs concept art, I'm thinking about 5-10 nightmares before the player is returned to Thras.

For Meridia's realm, you can use my Ayleid Set if you want, seems like an appropriate place for it.

It could partially use it, but I'm thinking that it could be made of brightly coloured crystals, ranging through every colour, then having traps that sense where the player is, when the player gets in the area, colour changes, being one giant light display. Then have everything detailed with Ayleid things.

The reason why it would be a bad idea is that Sanguines realm is already based on Ayleid pricinples. And I mean based on Aylied principles because I had to do some retexing for it to look how it does (I will post pics later on today).

Cheers,
TOYB

Heres some ideas for various realms.

For Coldharbour, I had an idea which I once considered making it (or at least a part of it). You don't have to make the entire world, just a bit of Cyrodiil. I could start by taking the heightmap of Cyrodiil, running it through some programs to erode the landscape to how it would look in the future. Then I imagine the outside world to be sorta like nightime, with the whole world a blue tinge, possibly very foggy, maybe snow, dead bodies everywhere, leafless, twisted trees and strange buildings, maybe even a futuristic looking (ruined) Imperial City.

I think doing the exterior could be cool, at least a part of it, around the Imperial Isle or something, maybe you could make it set just on the Isle, and have the water too cold or toxic to enter, so you're stuck on it, and you at least get to view a bit of a post-apocolyptic Cyrodiil.

~~

For Vaernima's Quagmire, theres a nicely compiled list of (50) nightmare ideas on the TR forums here: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16427 (I could post them if you don't have access)
This would be the most fun realm to make, though the hardest, and would require much scripting to make it fun. I think the coolest thing would be to make quite a few different nightmares, and have it randomise the ones you experience.

~~

For Malacath's realm of Ashpit, I found a rather awesome map designed by Chaosblitzkereig, which you can find here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Blitzkreig/

He's making a mod of Ashpit, and goes into quite a fair bit of detail in planning it, read that all here: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=590639

~~

I'll see what I can come up with for other realms, though Moonshadow is what I mainly want to focus on atm.

Perhaps for nocturnal we could have a shady garden with black water at the end of the garden is the exit, but all through the garden is Nocturnal Daedra you must sneak past them in order to get out if any of the daedra see you you will instantly be killed by a swarm of black Locust on exit you will find a new greater power of 120second 100% Chameleon (Nocturnals Shade?)

That ashpit mod looks pretty interesting. Oh and for nocturnal I could see that but littered with black rose and nightshade everywhere and maybe those dark trees from SI. Good job!

KuKulzA is incharge of C.H., and he will be using it as a "test" if you will for his own Cold Harbour, that will feature in the Dreugh Mod. The player will get to "Glimpse" the outside world through windows, etc but it will be mainly a very large dungeon that features the cells of Cold Harbour, and/or the Charnal houses.

Stealing ideas isn't the best way to go about things, we will either make up our own, or we simply do not make Quagmire at all because TR is making it (I'd rather not go into competition with them Wink )/

The map isn't very good, especially when he named a city "Solitude", Malacath's realm should be easy enough anyway, and also I think it would be cool if we made a completly inland height for it, instead of an Island.

Sounds good (except for the reward which is overpowering).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Everyone: Anyway I think I will just give the rest out as claims (since it has been heading that way) so pick any of those up there that haven't been claimed (and haven't been set aside) if you want to do a realm.

maybe a spell to make the enemy blind instead or a permanent increase in sneak and security by maybe 5 - 15\

For Vaernima's realm instead it could be a battle a against a fullblown copy of you. and for the reward a greater power that causes all enemy's in 5 ft to fall "asleep" for 30 seconds causing them to loose health in a nightmare ?

Vaernima's Realm could start out in an old dungeon and then you see a light at the end, you then activate the door and you are at the place you started and then you click it again and what do ya know you are where you started again, this would be frustrating and with some nice horror music in the backround. This would only be one of the many nightmares. This one would happen 4 or so times and then the player would go to the next nightmare. Wink

If it's the realm of nightmares, be sure to put the Adoring Fan in there.

How about you enter Vaernima's realm, and there is some area, and you go there and it ends up being the prison you started in, except much scarier. Then you get through all the scary stuff and you end up in a dream, because that's what she does too.

Vaernima's Realm will be multiple areas, and it will be up to the person who takes on the realm to bundle up everyone's ideas and decide which should go in what order, and how peoplese idea's will be managed. This thread isn't for brainstorming ideas, it is for people to claim realms, and so that I can keep to track of the realms. If you would like you can claim Vaernima's Realm, and make a thread for it.

Note to everyone: Please stop posting ideas for Nightmare's in Vaernima's Realm, that will be carried out later, in a differnt thread once the Realm is claimed, anymore posts about it will be deleted because I don't want this thread to get cluttered with ideas that will eventually be reposted in a new thread anyway.

I actually think the Planes of Oblivion needs its own forum, I can start one up easy enough. It will keep the Thras forum tidier and more focused, and it will allow each Realm to have more than one thread for planning each aspect. It just makes sense, as this is almost a side project on its own.

Hows this ~ http://z4.invisionfree.com/Planes_of_Oblivion/index.php

Hello, all.

TOYB invited me over here after I signed up to the Vvardenfell project. It looks as though there isn't much I can help with regarding Vv at the moment, as many areas are waiting for tilesets.

If nobody else wants it, I wouldn't mind having a crack at Nocturnal's Realm. I like the idea of a dark garden, as suggested by lsimm14, and it sounds as though something atmospheric could be created without an overwhelming amount of effort. I'm not workshy but I am only looking for bite-sized projects at the moment!

Anything I do I will happily hand over to the Thras project to be adapted or extended if I run out of time, or the leaders feel it isn't good enough.

A thought on accessing the various Realms: I think it would be good if, as well as the pillar providing a central way to enter each Realm, there was at least one other route per Realm. They would all be difficult to find. I just think it would be great if there were ways to enter that were in keeping with the Realms themselves, e.g. you might enter Vaernima's Realm by falling asleep in her shrine whilst holding the Skull of Corruption... sorry if this is the wrong place to suggest this idea, or if it's against Lore; it's just a thought...

There will only be the one way to access the realms; the exception to this rule is C.V.'s realm which is a special case and is part of the MQ.

And Nocturnal's realm is granted to you Check Make a new thread for it, and get some ideas going.
