[IDEA/Quest] Meridia's Northern Halls |
|
(You might get why the quest is called "Meridia's Northern Halls", in
relation to the Aurorans, if you do good on you for spotting it, but if
you don't that fine
).
Prerequisite Quest(s): Meridias Shrine Quest (From Stock OB).
Prologue to the quest:
Player has fallen in favor with Meridia, and has jumped from the Pillar of Thras, and into her realm.
The player is approached by an Auroran(Lynios).
Lynios: Mitta Pellani-Av-Cyrod.
Enter Outlander-of-the-Heartland.
Lynios: A Amaraldane Nou Arana, Emero-av-Latter, Meridia.
I herald our Queen, Mistress-of-light, Meridia.
Lynios: A Na Av Adynd, Umaril.
I am (is) of [the] God-Child, Umaril.
Lynios: Man Na Sou Gandra?
Where (who) is your gift?
(player must give Lynios a gift of a Varla, or Welkynd Stone, before they can pass further into the Northern Halls of Meridia).
Player: *Here is a Varla/Welkynd Stone*
Lynios: Thankyou (now speaking Cyrodiilic), you may now enter Meridia's Golden Halls.
(Player enters the Northern Halls of Meridia. These being halls nearly
completly made of a crystal glass like substance, that lets light pass
through it at differnt degress of strength, and of spectrum. This also
effects magica, some colours of light will increase a certain school of
magic, while other will increase another).
Meridia's Voice is now heard.
Meridia: Welcome child, I see you
have made it into my halls. This is a strange thing indeed for one such
as yourself to accomplish, normally not even those annoying Psjjics can
penetrate my realm, and let alone precive it, which makes me wonder how
you have managed to get here, with little ease I expect aswell...
Meridia: Well, as long as you are
here you may aswell do me a favor. Of late there as been some
fluctulation of spectrum in my realm, other then what I associate with
my realm, and my Daedra, I believe it to be from a Shadow Beast that
has somehow fallen out of the realm of Shadows, and into my own. Get
rid of it, and I will reward you greatly.
PC now goes off to kill the Shadow Beast.
Player approaches Shadow Beast, and then kills it, however it then
turns into two faded versions of the Shadow (but smaller). This keeps
happening until the Shadow finally fades out of existence.
Meridia: Thank you %PCname, you have done a good service to the realm, may the light always shine upon you.
Player is now teleported back to Thras, and when they are they find an
Enchanted Staff with a Varla stone on the end of it, enchanted with
60Feet of Light (constant).
Notes: Shadow Magic, and Shadow Beasts are in Lore, and Shadowkey was
based around it. The Ayleid script is very Lore based, and I am a
trusted source for the Aylied Language, so it can be trusted.

Is the KoTN-plugin required? Because there are aurorians in the quest.

Shadow beasts like in Shadowkey... very cool
but how did it end up there? maybe an explanation as to why/how?
gives some background so that its not just another quest but has depth
depth important to any mod, so just wondering why the beastie's there

I'm still thinking about it (hence the topic is marked with IDEA), but
I'm thinking because Meridia's Realm revolves around light, the absence
of Light cause weaker power, the darker the shadow, the weker that part
of her realm becomes, until it is pitch black. When this happens, that
small piece of her realm is fractured long enough for the realm of
Shadows to leak into her realm, which as we know, is were Shadow beasts
come from. But as you can imagine, because most of her realm is
literallly made of Light, a Shadow becomming pitch black is close to
immposible.
Is that a good enough explanation for ya?

Do you think it would be possible to add some light spells to the game?
Something such as a blinding light, which would blind (duh) everyone
who sees it. It could also do damage to shadows...
On the flip side, if you were to expand this, having a shadow fight for you would be pretty cool.
Of course I have no idea how much you want to do with this idea.
Currently it sounds like it's just another way into Thras, but having a
plethora of new light spells would be pretty awesome. |
Actually the PC has to already be in Thras to get to Meridia's Realm.
Well because this will be one quest in Meridia's Realm, it still leaves
space for others, and it also leaves space for things like the usual
things you can do elsewhere (E.g. buy spells, etc). Also I'm thinking
that maybe it could be posible to have some Ayleid ghosts, from the
first era, who sacrificed themselves to Meridia, so that they could
follow Umaril back to her realm
Which would mean there would be a heavier Ayleid element to the realm
As for the shadow summon thing, it doesn't really work like that, because of the wa shadow magic works...

your explanation sounds good...
maybe someone sabotaged a bit of her realm allowing shadow to seep in
as for the light spells... perhaps it rejuvenates living things but destroys/hurts undead things?
seeing as how Meridia is connected to life-force and hates undead and Necromancy, just a thought

Hmm, I think we can manage to make an Auroran race similar to how Beth
handled the Golden Saints. We can say the reason that the Aurorans who
invaded Cyrodiil look a bit different is that they are all prepared for
battle, but Meridia's will have a different style of Auroran armor,
with Female variants too.
And the light affecting you, how will that work? How about you get a
script effect upon entering her realm, and when you are within range of
x object/light it will raise a stat or skill?

No, we can make it within the distance of the light itself if we give
the light a reference ID in the Construction Set and make the script
target that instead. Then all we need to do is make the distance the
same as the light range.

Meridia's dialogue could be improved, but the rest of these ideas sound
really good. In fact, the discussion about light spells and Aurorans
has given me a few ideas of my own regarding a faction quest mod I've
been working on.
I like the sound of this "shadow beast" too. Very cool.

this is definitely doable because I believe either Midas Magic or PJ's
Spell Compendium has a spell that does just that. It's called Holy Beam
or Circle or something... something Holy..
