Sounds great man! I could do something for ye, maybe a town? I am quite
good at those, not sure if you have seen my work though. |

If you've got the heightmap for it, I wouldn't mind making a town using
existing architecture (Mmm.. can you say bravil + flying rocks?)

Only a few OB realms will be exteriors (if you mean making one for an
OB realm, not Thras ofcourse), one being Moonshadow, but that will be
using new Architecture. But if you do want to make a town for an OB
realm go ahead, it will most likely end up being the entire realm, so
it would be best if you made it in a feux exterior (interior, set as
exterior).
However, please try and make the town to the specifics, and characteristics of the realm.

Here, I'll create a darkened cave interior for Nocturn's realm, just to see how you like it?

While it's been claimed already, and it's been decided what it'll be
like, which is a completly blackened cave, lit by spaced out torches,
in a mix of cave, and fort ruin. It would be great if you could make it
like that. Leave out creatures, because a custom Nocturnal creature
must be made (a spriggan, with the swigs removed from it's body,
retexed to be nearly completly black, but with a strong normal map, so
when it comes into the light it is extremly easy to see).
The quest for the realm, was to get through the dungeon, and activate
the lights, which would open a portal back to Thras. When the lights
where activated, the Nocturnal creatures were to disappear, also light
spells, and if the creatures were to get to close to lights, it would
cause them damage.

Just running an expansion of that idea past you, perhaps, in order to
make it more central, have a single (perhaps larger?) immortal creature
in a large and dark room created with the chasm tileset, and along the
ledges there would statues of nocturne with unlit braziers in front of
them, and throughout the dungeon there would be the switches (or
something more creative please) as you said, that could be used to
light the switches, and with each switch he becomes easier to kill.
Just thought that might give you a reason for the lights to be turned
on that's more apperant, as well as give a use for this vision I have
of the pit with all the statues looking down on you.

Sounds good. Prehaps give the creature some fancy Latin name
Also, do not name it a Shadow Beast, Nocturnal has no relation to
Shadow Magic or Shadow Beasts (Shadow magic and shadow beasts are
closer in relationship with tonal architecture).
I think, that prehaps to get to this end dungeon boss, the player must
first get into the room, via turning on the first dungeons lights, as
per the first idea, which would open a door to this dungeon, where the
player would get to fight this monster.
Edit: When RW gets the Oblvion Planes sub-forum up, I'll get him to set you as a moderator for Nocturnal's Realm.

As a means of ensuring the player learns of the lights before he begins
the fight? Perhaps placing one by the door, along with a message of
sorts about their purpose (even if it's in riddles), and the player can
fight the beast as is (And most likely die) or follow the side passages
to the other lights.

Prehaps a scripted event where another adventurer activates a light
when the PC gets there, and then a Nocturnal creature appears in the
light and dies (with the adventurer going off into the darkness, with
the player hearing a scream of him/her dying, then the PC's controls
are released, followed by a Jornal entry about activating the lights).
That way, the PC would know about the ligths, and get used to
activating them in the first dungeon, then in the boss dungeon, the PC
would have the skills neccessary to kill the monster.

Alrighty, I can handle the cell creation at least, we'll see about the scripting:
Two floor dungeon: First to gain entry, second with a boss and side passages to activate the lights.
Sure thing, I can handle this.

The lights should be pretty easy, just give them references, and on the
switch or whatever give them a script to activate the lights. The
lights themselves (on an invisible marker activated in unisen with the
light, in the same place) should have an area around it, the same as
the light radius, and have an If statment to check if a Nocturnal
creature is in the radius, and if it is, the creature gets a hurt.
The final boss creatures way of light damge should be easier, just add
a bloack in the activation script to take away X amount of health from
the creature.
The adventurer script is more a matter of AI, but it shouldn't be to
hard. If worst comes to worst, just PM a scripter like InsanitySorrow
to look over your scripts and get them fixed up.
Cheers,
TOYB
(P.S. please start a thread in the apropirate Oblivion Plane sub-forum).

Alright, I'll start the thread.
And it wasn't those scripts I wasn't sure about, it was the cut scene and specific NPC action scripts.

TOYB, did you get what you need from the other forum yet? So I can delete it?
Like all the Moonshadow & Nocturnal story and world design stuff...

as Nocturnal's Realm is sorted out already, and what has been decided

Just go ahead and delete 'em
|
What about all that planning of the Moonshadow story? I didn't really
read it but wont you want to make a summary of what you guys came up
with?
