The Siege of Orsinium, A Play ? By Lugar2

For the Annual Order of Diagna Re-enactment
--Soscean Ruuz

(Note from the playwright: this is the second edition of the play, revised and redone for the general audience from the more crude and battle-oriented version made for the Order of Diagna Re-enactment so that the entirety of the story is better told. For fans of my previous edition, know that it has only been bettered and deepened.)

Dramatis Personae
Gaiden Shinji, leader of Order of Diagna, Redguard
Joile, King of Daggerfall, Breton
Sason, Sentinal Knights of the Moon Commander, Redguard
Azuk gro Azorku, Orcish Leader
Allied Officers and Soldiers
Orcish Barbarians

Dramatis Personae (Revised-version)
Kotaro, Order of Diagna Lieutenant, Redguard
Thetrard Rane, Knights of the Dragon Commander, Breton
Tauryon, the Crystal Tower Lord, Altmer
Alusaron, an elder sword-singer, Redguard
Makela Leki, a female sword-singer, Redguard
Julia, Patia, Kati, Cegila, Zell, sword-singer companions of Makela

The allied armies of the Order of Diagna, Daggerfall and Sentinal are played by the Order of Diagna seniors. The Orcish armies are played by the Order of Diagna initiates.

ACT I, SCENE I

NARRATOR: Early Morning, the mouth of Bjoulsae River. The year is 1E 950, and this is the beginning of the Siege of Orsinium.

The play opens as the respective leaders of the allied armies come together to begin their march to the enemy stronghold at Orsinium. The Redguard banners fly in the wind above their forces while the Dragon banner of the Bretons mingles in. The Diagna leader approaches the Daggerfall King and Sentinal Commander who are already in converse.

GAIDEN SHINJI: My brethren, we all meet at last. We meet so that we shall finish off the beast-folk that our ancestors drove from the lands to where they now hide in the mountains. The coming days will be a glorious moment in the history of our world.

KING JOILE: Indeed. The end of the Orc menace is at hand, with our combined forces the enemy shall be reduced to dust. Death to the Orcs!

THE ARMIES (in unison): Death to the Orcs!

GAIDEN SHINJI: Moral is high. The time to move has come; let us depart.

ACT I, SCENE II

NARRATOR: Nightfall, near the Orsinium border.

The scene opens in the command tent of the Order of Diagna. Candles are about illuminating the three leaders, before them is a large wooden table covered in papers, maps and drawings.

SASON: My scouts report that the enemy has fled back and reinforced themselves in their stronghold. Apart from that, various Orcish skirmishing and raiding parties are about in the forests. I believe it best that we attack now while there is still somewhat an element of surprise and the aide of the night.

GAIDEN SHINJI: No. The night would serve them better than it would us on their own land. We shall wait until morning to launch the initial assault.

KNIGHTS OF THE MOON OFFICER: How shall we attack? What strategy has been devised?

GAIDEN SHINJI: The Order of Diagna shall begin the initial assault, a full frontal attack on their stronghold. Your men shall augment my own as well as serve in flanking the enemy. The good Breton forces shall take the rear, while their mages set fire to the forests to the north preventing aide from the goblin-kin of the Wrothgarian Mountains.

KNIGHTS OF THE MOON OFFICER: Very well, I shall inform my men. (Exits)

KING JOILE: You make it sound as if it will be easy.

SASON (cutting in): It will by no means be easy. The Orc are strong and dug in, but they're still beasts. The Redguard drove them from Hammerfell, now we'll drive them from Tamriel.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Quite so. The plans have been drawn and now we should get our rest, we'll need it.

SASON: Very well. (Exits, along with Joile.)

Enter Alusaron. Strong with a dignified walk despite his age. He is nearing the age of one-hundred eighty but due to his strong spirit he is still and able fighter, though he mainly serves as an adviser.

ALUSARON: Greetings Shinji.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Ahh, welcome friend, its been too long. Please, what may I do for you in this hour of strife.

ALUSARON: I have come to end my days in glory old friend. The great goblins of old were not enough to end me, nor it seems are the sands of time. Perhaps the bastard Orcs and their profane gods shall prove to be my worthy adversary.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Ahh, a death worthy of songs. You shall fight at my side and we shall drive them from the land, we leave with the coming of dawn.

ALUSARON: To feel the thrill of battle once again...

GAIDEN SHINJI: To fight together once again...

ALUSARON AND GAIDEN SHINJI (in unison): For the HoonDing!

Lights fade on the Order of Diagna command tent.
