The Seige of Orsinium, A play - Lugar2

ACT II, SCENE I

NARRATOR: Morning, near the Orsinium border. Dawn of Siege.

The scene opens on the battlefield. The allied forces stand in rank advancing forward. They come across the first Orcish raiding party in the ruins of a small village.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Warriors. Make ready.

THE ARMIES: Ready sir!

GAIDEN SHINJI: Warriors. Attack!

The allied forces charge the Orcish forces that are greatly outnumbered. The Orcish raiding party is defeated. The armies continue forward, after some marching the Orcish stronghold comes into view.

SASON: Knights of the Moon, break to the left! Sentinal Armies, forward!

KING JOILE: Knights of the Dragon, to the rear! (The Daggerfall forces proceed to flank the enemy, resulting in the Orcish stronghold being surrounded)

KING JOILE: Mages, fire to the forests!

GAIDEN SHINJI: Warriors of Diagna, ATTACK!!!

NARRATOR: So the Siege of Orsinium begins. The allied forces of the Order of Diagna, Sentinal and Daggerfall on one side, the beast-folk of the Orcs upon the other.

The joint forces charge the Orcish stronghold; the Orcs are deeply entrenched. The battle continued for some time (the Order of Diagna initiates playing the Orcs in attempt to prove themselves fight exceptionally well most times, which makes them all the better for the part) but the Orcs are dug in too deep.

KNIGHTS OF THE MOON OFFICER: Bring forward the catapults! Ready! FIRE!!!

DAGGERFELL SOLDIER: It?s of no use sir. Their walls are too strong.

NARRATOR: As the catapult fire stops the Orcish Leader, Azuk gro Azorku, shows himself from atop the walls. (Enter Azuk)

AZUK GRO AZORKU: Come foolish men. You cannot defeat us, we are strong. Spend a life age against our walls and will gain you nothing. We want but the Bjoulsae.

GAIDEN SHINJI: You shall have no such thing. Your arrogance shall be your downfall, the men of Hammerfell and High Rock shall never pay tribute to you.

AZUK GRO AZORKU: So be it Ra Gada. It will be your end.

The lights fade on the battle.

ACT II, SCENE II

NARRATOR: Nightfall, the allied encampment. Two months after the initial assault. The battles have been fierce but the Orcs remain entrenched and the goblin-kin have finally made it down from the mountains to the aide of the Orcs rendering all flanking tactics obsolete. The leaders meet to discuss the plans of further action.

The scene opens back in the command tent of the Order of Diagna. The three leaders once again stand before the table; the adviser Alusaron and the commander Thetrard Rane are also present.

ALUSARON: The goblins bring them supplies and food from the north. We'll never starve them out.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Quite so. It must be done by force. The only question is, are we all prepared to take the loss, for the losses will be many.

KING JOILE: The extermination of the Orc barbarians is worth any price.

SASON: Aye, we continue.

GAIDEN SHINJI: Good.

The lights fade on the tent.

ACT II, SCENE III

NARRATOR: 1E 970, twenty years into the accursed war. Reinforcements are constantly being brought in from both sides, it seems the goblin population of the mountains is endless.

The scene opens on a darkened tent. The red banners indicate Dragons, for it is the command tent of the Daggerfall King.

TAURYON: My lord. The Crystal Tower of High Rock greets you warmly.

KING JOILE: I greet you as well. What business have we together.

TAURYON: We of the Crystal Tower have found opportunity, grand opportunity, for our peoples.

KING JOILE: And what opportunity is this?

TAURYON: The Redguard of Hammerfell. They are busy here in to the North with you, assailing the Orcs. The leave their own lands open.

KING JOILE: You propose betrayal.

TAURYON: I propose progress. The Crystal Tower will sponsor the invasion, if you will lead it, what have you to lose? The Redguard will not abandon the current conflict; they've too much already invested. Just think, if you can gain control of Sentinal, you gain control of the Iliac Bay. There won't even be anybody left to stop you from taking the Bjoulsae afterward.

KING JOILE: Your offer is enticing, so be it.

TAURYON (smiling): Perfect.

KING JOILE: We'll be killing two birds with one stone in this alliance. Destroy the Orcs from High Rock and at the same time begin a preliminary invasion of Hammerfell. Commander!

Enter Thetrard Rane, a noble and strong commander of the Knights of the Dragon.

THETRARD RANE: Yes my lord.

KING JOILE: You shall be taking full command of the forces here in Orsinium for I have business elsewhere to attend to.

THETRARD RANE: Yes my lord, if that be your wish.

KING JOILE: It is. I shall be departing come the morning; I put my trust in you to serve Daggerfall.

THETRARD RANE: I shall not let you down.

Lights fade from the King of Daggerfall's tent.
