The Crossing of the Eltheric: The Crown and the Sword ? By Lugar2
A Short Analysis of Redguard Politics
--Written By Volag Goddkey
In the year 792 of the First Era of Tamriel as is known to all
throughout Hammerfell the destruction of Yokuda occurred at the hands
of Ansei led by Frandar Hunding in defence against the tyrant Emperor
Hira. In the year 808 they first land on Tamriel on the island of Herne
off the coast of present Hammerfell.
In Yokuda, there had been two main groups of people. On the one hand
there were the Na-Totambu, the kings and rulers. On the other hand was
the Ra Gada, the warrior class of the Yokudans. Once upon the isle of
Herne the Ra Gada proceeded forward to the coasts of Hammerfell making
way for their rulers in the tradition of the HoonDing, led once again
by Frandar Hunding and the way of the sword. For one of the first times
in years the Ra Gada were separated from their rulers, and perhaps they
liked it. With the way clear the political system of Yokuda was
transplanted whole to Hammerfell and the Na-Totambu finished the trek
to the mainland.
In this state the two parties broke further. With the granting of the
Ra Gada rights of ownership they proclaim themselves their own party,
arguing themselves the first Redguard in the new lands. In the
separation from their Na-Totambu rulers while "making the way" they
come across a type of independence. So begins the new alignment of
Crowns and Forebears, a shift in relationship from ruling class and
warrior class into two sovereign parties vying for power. The ancient
Na-Totambu ruling class becomes the Crowns while the ancient warrior
class of the Ra Gada becomes the Forebears. The western and southern
lands which the Ra Gada first cleansed for their people still holds the
greatest sentiment for them in these days. In contrast the lands that
had not become assimilated to the absence of the Na-Totambu, those
lands in the north and in the east, still hold the ancient sentiment of
true Yokudans for the Crowns.
Still furthering the gap between the Crowns and the Forebears during
the Hammerfell invasion by Tiber Septim the more liberal Forebears came
to accept the Empire, going so far as to betray their old ruling class.
Though it bears much resentment perhaps the new Lhotunic party, a
combining of the two former parties, will serve to close the gap for
good.
