Quest Development and Implementation

Quest Development (and implementation), will have a similar system to that I/TOYB introduced to Skyrim, before I/TOYB left the position of Co-Leader. That system was quite effecient, but this new one will hopefully be more so. The system follows this structure:

  1. Quest is discussed as an idea in the Quest Development forum. This quest is marked with an [IDEA] tag in the thread name.

  2. Once the Quest outline has been decided upon, the [IDEA] thread is moved to a archived forum, and renamed [Quest.IDEA]*number*. The number is used for organisation of the Thread, and used in the CS later on to organise quests. In the archived thread, all the posts are deleted, and a summary of the thread and all of the ideas mentioned in it is made (This helps the quest maker search through all the ideas). A new thread is made for the quest in the Quest Development forum, named [WIP/Quest]*name*, and in it a Quest Draft is written up (Alternativly someone with better knowledge of making quests can skip directly to this step first, before the ideas phase).

  3. Once the draft is given aproval, the [IDEA/Quest] thread is found, for the quest in the archived section, and is changed to [WIP/Quest]*number**name*. The entire thread is deleted, and the final draft is editeded into the first post of the thread, along with any notes about the quest that retain significance to it's development, made by the writer, and by other members. The final version is then written out, with full colour-coded dialouge, quest notation and other relevant things.

  4. The final version is then once again editted into the corresponding thread in archived section, like the draft, and the idea threads were. It is named [Final/Quest]*number**name*. Now in the Quest Claims forum a thread is made for the quest called [Unclaimed/Quest]*number**name*, linked to the the archived thread. When the quest is claimed the "Unclaimed" becomes "Claimed" in the title.

  5. When the quest has been claimed, and finished in the CS, the thread is deleted, and every important detail about the quest implementation is put into a second post in the archived thread, which is now renamed [REL/Quest]*number**name*. The reason why important details about the quests implementaion is put into the thread, is so that in Beta testing, the person fixing it can more easily see what the proplem is, and how to fix it. If something is fixed with the quest, that fix is noted into the archived thread, for the same reason as why notes of the implementation are kept.

  6. The quest is then merged into the masterfile. If problems arise with the quest in Beta testing, the person fixing it refers to the archived thread on details of the quest. Any changes that are made are noted in the archived thread.

Note: There will be a stickied thread, somewhere where the Quest name, number and state of completion/development is kept.

I will post more on how each quest passes through it's approval later on, however the standards on what each quest needs to be like, will be prone to change, as it wil most likely be revised, by me, the (future and current) Heads of Development, and my Co-Leader.

Looks good enough for me, but is there really a reason to delete the IDEA thread? I think it's a good idea to keep that kind of thing around, in case we ever need to see the reasoning behind something, or to reevaluate something.

Confused It doesn't get deleted, the posts inside of the thread get deleted, and sumarised into the first post in the thread (so it can easily be read through), and then the thread is archived.
