I know what you mean.
I could shape it a lot more curved, but I don't want it to cause any
clipping with the arms, and it's difficult for me to predict how it'd
turn out when rigged. I can see how the general shape of the concept is
like a natural torso shape, and has little extrusions (seems to be
pressed agaist the body, in some sense). Keep in mind it'd be more
curved when smoothed, so it should turn out okay. Next I'll work on the
neck, then the lower section.
I removed the wing sections on the cuirass I made; they were causing problems, especially when smoothing it.
Here's the edited shoulders, and a smoothed version, and a screen with repositioned arms:

I'll see what I can do.
I like the sound of that btw. How big of a gap though? An armour in
this style I think the gap would be fairly small, with small pieces of
leather strapping supporting them. A bit like this:

if you didn't want to model it you could the same thing with clever use
of alpha transparency and slightly exxagerated normal map (to give the
leather thickness).
Modelling would be cool too, but ^that^ might save on poly's

Oblivion Armor is all about high polys. What was Daedric again, 150,000 polys?
And I'm gonna go back to this same discussion I had in Valenwood, what
are Ayleids supposed to look like? Some people say pale, others say
green, and some others say tan.
The pale idea I have no idea where that came from. The green was back
in Morrowind, someone made an Ayleid race, and they made it green
bacause as described in the Wild Elves book they live secluded in
forests, and easily camoflauge, so I'm guessing that's why they made
them green with forest-ish tatoos for that reason. Other people are
saying tan from that thieves guild quest, where there are two ayleid
statues who are tan. It's argued that those are real preserved ayleids,
but everything in-game and in the CS points in the direction of just
animated statues. Also in the CS their race is wood elf.

The cuirass was about 15,000 I believe, the highest in the game.

They're Skin colour is detailed in a book, from MW. It states they had
a golden-ish skin colour, inbetween that of a Dark elf, and a high elf
- the tattoo I plan to put on will be glow mapped, and crused Welkynd
stones would of been used, symbolic of their mistress Meridia, Daedric
Queen of light, etc.

That sounds pretty cool. Anything on their eyes or are we free to play around with that?

I imagined the Ayleids to be a mx of green and gold. A bit like this:
Or even a bit more green.

Where's the concept of the eyes? If they're not made yet, maybe I can take a go at it.
