If you are making a custom mesh then you will need to rig it to the skeleton. Otherwise it wont move!

Yeah, that's the whole point of it, but we make the new mesh, stick it
in a different folder, and load the mesh from there, it might use the
sload mesh with all of the other races using their default meshes. I
haven't tried it yet, but it may work.

I don't know, maybe it could work somewhat if we assign the skeleton at
different spots, leaving a smaller forearm and longer.....arm region
between the shoulder and the elbow. Then they would also be able to
talk just like all the other races with a new head mesh which any race
can do. So we'll pretty much compress the limbs and increase the girth
of the torso and stuff, and it will hopefuly work.

Well they are supernaturally morbidly obese, right? So we need to make
them really, really, really fat with short stubby arms and legs and a
speed of like 5.

Scripted spell as race ability, increases speed while in water/using breathmeter.

I don't know about the big guys on land. They don't look like they can
swim at all. The little ones definately, but those will be creatures
using the slaughterfish animation I'm pretty sure. But if it says they
can swim, we give them a swim speed spell or something.
