Having Ayleid architecture is an interesting idea, obviously the link to Meridia via Umaril, Sideways Cave and so forth casts interesting questions, such as how long they have worshipped her, and perhaps their architecture was based on the coloured rooms (thus shedding light on why you're using that architecture).

There is also an interesting theory that Meridia, associated with living energies, and is also linked to Magnus, the largest hole in Oblivion to Aetherius, the realm of magic, and therefore magicka could be the basing concept of her coloured rooms (making the red room, the room of destruction, yellow conjuration, green illusion, blue restoration, purple alteration, and lilac(?) for mysticism). Alchemy being part of all living things could have a garden or something attributed to it.

The rooms' inhabitants could reflect this in their character, and their appreciation of that specific type of magic, and the room itself could be designed for use of the spells from that school (so for instance in the mysticism room, items could be stacked on shelves way too high to reach, thus telekinesis is oft used, some characters may be impossible to see, and thus life-detect could come useful, and so forth).

Just a few idea to start discussion going. Meridia is definitely one of the more ambiguous gods, hopefully her realm will leave room for ambiguity too.

I believe you speak of the Census of Daedra Lords calling her a "fallen-solar daughter" or something like that. What that means is [likely] she followed Magnus at the convention back to Aetherius, and got kicked out.

The Stolen Wastes, Volume I

[This book burns your eyes as you open it, the text as though it was not written in any known ink, but rather the purest light there ever has been; only a small fragment can be made out.]

...and by the infinite volume of the first-of-those-to-flee, the Magicka flowed forth, stolen by the solar Daughter Meridia, who had torn into Magnus [trying to hold him back to her consort's new land of unchallenged freedom, known as the seperation from what IS], whom flowed out with rays of pure magicka -known as light, but she could not reach the Isle in the darkness [known to both the wanders and the those-who-slept-though-the-change, as NIRN], and instead was punished by her father [-and-of-the-countless-siblings-of-the-golden-light-the-poured-hence-forth]...

Written by me for Aprocypha, basically it is a fragment of an idea I've had for a while that I wanted included in the mod, and that is that Meridia was born from Magnus when light was created from Magika. In Magnuses oringinal plan, there was only one type of light; white light, which covers all of the Aether. But in the creation of Mundus, Meridia came with Magnus, and was seduced by the plans of Lorkhan, and with his help, split white light into colour, which gave depth and varity in Mundus, and also change, for colour was never constant. This is when Magnus becomes disgusted, for his own gift to Mundus had been changed, and in his mind it had been soiled by Padomay; to rectify the problem, he decided to leave, which would sever Magika to Mundus, and so it would die. Meridia stops this by holding him back, which in the struggle rips a hole in the fabric of the blanket of Oblivion, so that the Aether will always shine through, however when she tried to get back to Mundus, she was held back by Magnus as punishment, and as she watched her lover [Lorkhan] being destroyed by the other Aedra, she became overwhelmed with grief, and because there was no where else to go, she fell into the blanket of oblivion, becomming trapped in the wheel as a Daedra.

The Ayleidoon clearly were hinted as having Meridia has their Matron diety, as they were basically light worshippers, seeing light as the source of Magika in Nirn, which is backed up by her numerous appearances in Ayleid lore, and texts about how important light was to the Ayleidoon.

And the fact that there's a Shrine to Meridia in the Ayleid Ruins within Sideways Cave Tongue

I believe the Ayleidic relationship with Merid was more or less a pact. We know as Aldmeri offshoots they were Aedra worshippers.

Religion is whoever they want to worship Tongue

(keep in mind that a lot of my lore knowledge sucks, so don't hate me if I'm wrong)

Who's to say they didn't do both? But, if they had a main deity, like Akatosh to the Imperials, I'd say that it would be Meridia for the Ayleids, simply because they consider light so sacred and it has the most power in Ayleid society.

But, certain references have said that the Ayleids have forsaken the divines, making them evil and explaining why they wander their ancient halls as undead. But I think that's just biased, because Imperials might not have wanted to accept that they and the Ayleids could have possibly shared gods.

But, if the Aedra truly took the sides of the Imperials in ancient times in this overthrow of the alleged "evil and corrupt" Ayleid Empire, then it is possible that the Ayleids did not worship Aedra.

But, as it goes, most information relating to the empire from within the empire is biased and glorifies only the empire.

I do think that the Ayleids probably would have worshipped both though. Most other cultures have accepted other beings rather than the divines into their pantheon, like Y'ffre in Valenwood.

The Ayleids did have some sort of pact though. I remember reading a book once. It explained of a pact between the Ayleids and Meridia, and Meridia sent Umaril to the Ayleids.

This has actually been dicussed on the ESF with people like prowler agreeing, that there was no strict pantheon to which coulds they could and couldn't worship, there wasn't strict defintions of 'Aedra' and 'Daedra' just 'gods'.

IIRC, Glories and Laments mentions a shrine to Magnus, but I can gree with the suggested theory.
