reading on the BSForums has got me thinking....
should we have a dragon in our mod? just a thought
now I know it was never truly stated as fact that dragons once lived in Morrowind but its very possible
but if we do it'll be tied to the main quest... maybe it cam eback to
die on the slopes of Red Mt. near the Heart of Lorkhan, and it realizes
furiously that the Heart is gone, and tries to find the one who
destroyed it... obviously Nerevarine, but he/she aint here, only one
here is Vivec... so it'll be interesting, but we'll see, I wanna see
some opinions on this all-of-a-sudden random sorta strange idea |

One thing I've been wondering about is would large models (Your Dragon
and Stilt Striders come to mind) be rendered using havoc physics? If
so, I wonder wheather your character could be crushed (or at the very
least get very stuck) under these large models? |

Hah, not a bad idea.
Nah seriously though, I think the Silt(!
) Striders would have to be made so they can't be attacked, like they
were in Morrowind. Although we could try it... just so they can
collapse on the player!
KuKulzA- I'm against the idea, to be honest. I just don't like dragons,
and I think they'd be hard to implement and stuff for Oblivion,
especially with dragon fire breath stuff. Just sounds complicated.

it was just an idea, nothing more...
I'm not entirely serious about it either, but I want to hear opinions

Meh, they had several dragon models in TES3, but I think it will have a
hard time fitting into lore. How about it tried to escape the Tscaesi
(sp?) Empire in Akavir, so it fled across the sea to the only other
land it would know, Morrowind.

Sounds good, maybe we could make the dragon have some correlation to
Akatosh? Maybe it had something to do with the last Dragon Break?

I dunno, if you want to expand upon that idea its cool
I was just wondering what the opinions where and why
the dragon isn't a serious idea but its a possibility

try like explaining why it would break lore
we add NPCs to Vvardenfell thats not lore breaking, but we slightly
consider maybe having a dragon return to Morrowind where they are said
to have fled long ago from and its breaking lore... TOYB, if you have
nothing good to say except some of those short rude phrases or opinions
without backing, don't post at all |

It's not that it's a bad idea though, I mean, it would be pretty cool
to fight a dragon. And now that I think, Oblivion's Daedroth's breathe
fire, right? So it probably won't be as hard to implement as I
originally thought.

It wasn't rude, you just chose to take it that way.
And we know why all dragon's are extinct aswell, the Skylamps drovethem
all away/ate them. Also the fact that all Dragons on Akavir were
killed, that there a few in Tamtreil, but are said only to exist in the
west, and because if there was any to be found, they would be to
imposibly high up for the player to reach (by my understanding of Mi'aq
teachings
).

well if you know I take it that way then please don't do things that way on purpose
we aren't here to cause trouble, we're here to get along and mod
what I don';t understand is where lore says a dragon can't/won't come back to Morrowind
I'm not saying we are going with this idea but I am saying it is an interesting possibility

as they are based on many cultures.. having native american and many asiatic influences...
but see them as Morrowind... I mean Bethesda did a good job making them very unique

Been a while since I beat the game, but I remember Akatosh being pretty big. How does it do with clipping, etc?
Also, (stupid question) am I correct in presuming this thing can fly?

Well don't get your hopes up, from what I've seen the mod is pretty
lame... IMHO. The dragon is just a retextured model of Peryite and the
animation isn't really good.

Why not have dragons? Vvardenfell is located relatively close to
Akavir, and that place recently hasn't been treating their dragons that
can fly away too nicely, so one would assume they'd go to VVardenfell.
And dragons aren't specifically Asian or anything. You can look at
almost all ancient cultures in the world and find dragons. Russia, The
Aztecs and the others over there, Greece, Rome, Britain, etc...
Maybe not the dragon itself, but possibly a fossilized dragon, as a very long time passed since they fled to Morrowind I think.

What about having it as an easter egg, somewhere really well hidden, so that it doesn't break lore?

I'm with Ebonyknight, I also think it's best not to have one because it
just doesn't fit in anything that Vvardenfell is known for. Also, from
the previous thread of Seniosh, I don't think a dragon would be so
scared of Dagoth Ur that it would leave its home (if it did live in Red
Mountain that is). |

yea... maybe a giant dragon skeleton slightly protruding from the
ash... and an excavation team is real excited and warding off local
Dunmer who want to sell the bones or use them in mystical ancestor
rituals, or in medicines...
etc.etc.
sounds actually cooler than a living dragon... a dead dragon... somehow it seems very fitting

Make another Hadhafang(sp?)? It won't necessarily be a dagger this time though.

That would be a very fascinating storyline, but how would the player
have a part in this plot. Defend the bones from an evil organization
maybe. Dunno. |
