originally inspired by Ammon and his bro
There is a two-fold part to this topic...
1. there are several unofficial factions in Vivec City that should be used
2. I intend for there to be the ability to start a business in Vivec City
Unofficial and UnjoinableGondoliers
The Sweeps
Glassworkers
Potters Guild
Tailors and Dyers Guild
Tanners and Miners Guild
Vivec Arena
Dres
Indoril
Torval Gang
Ash-Scale Gang
Dralor Gang
let me know if I missed any...
what would be most important to this topic is the unofficial ones...
The Gondoliers would have their base in the Canal Slums. Though
respected they are poor folks. The Sweeps, I am not sure where they
would live, but maybe 1-2 in each Canton? The Glassworkers would make
glass items and of course... armor and weapons. The Potters Hall woul
dhave ALL sorts of pottery... Tailors and Dyers woul dhave all sorts of
fabric and a dying room where dyes are tested and applied... Tanners
and Miners would probably have skins and ore lying around ebing
inspected and cured/smelted... and the three gangs would probably be
involved in if you join the Camonna Tong...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
now, as ya'll know, the Fighters Guild in Vivec City was basically
killed, their new HQ is in Ebonheart. Thus the old Fighters Guild hall
is now 'Market Hall'. It is a vacant place and you can talk to __(insert name)__
about renting the space to start a business. After that you need to
find a contact, and you can find one from Redoran, Telvanni, Hlaalu,
Ashlanders, E.E.C., or a Velothi in Vivec City. Each one offers a
different venue, and you don't need ot belong to those factiosn to do
this, its about money.
The Redoran will get you Bonemold, Guar hides, kwama eggs, muck,
and alcohols, to help aid their failing economy. The Hlaalu will get
you saltrice, ebony, netch leather, and corkbulb to spread their goods
in the Foreign Quarter / Market Canton. The Telvanni will get you
bug-musk, Blight-moth silk clothes, potions, and enchanted items, they
want to expose others to their very expensive and exclusive goods. The
Ashlanders will get you all sorts of natural ingredients, like shalk
shells, resins, netch leather, as well as all sorts of chitin and netch
armors and weapons - they too are, in a limited way, connected to the
whole economy thing, just in a small local way. The East Empire Company
will help supply you with Imperial clothes, armor, Imperial books, and
horse meat, to help you convert the locals to Imperial ways and make a
big profit. The Velothi contact will help you get in touch with the
Glassworkers, Potters Guild, Tailors and Dyers Guild, and Tanners and
Miners Guild. That'll get you glass, glass armor/weapons, pottery,
clothing, hides, and ore. The different contacts help provide you with
different goods. The further along you get, the better stuff is sold
and the more money you get per month
After that you must find a business partner to help manage the place
for you, a sort of vice-president or assistant. You can chose a Velothi
Dunmer, a Khajiit, or an Imperial who'd be willing to be your partner.
They'll be 3 new NPCs somewheres in Vivec City, and asking locals will
point you to them, something like "man who needs a job".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soon, there will be a robbery. All the goods at you store will be
stolen. All the invested money gone. Thus you will need to hire a
guard, and this investment will prevent further thefs. If you don't
then periodically another theft will occur, and they will get worse and
worse. If your deed is taken, and ALL the invested gold is gone, you
forever lose the right to have that hall, because you lost your rights
and the trust of the city officials.
The guards you can choose are as follows:
Gulan Ramoran, Redoran Guard (if you are in Great House Redoran)
Eno Rethan, Hlaalu Guard (if you are in Great House Hlaalu)
Bodmon Thindol, Telvanni Guard (if you are in Great House Telvanni)
Thelas Indobar, Ordinator (if you make a big donation to the Temple, free if you are part of the Ordinators)
Shamub gro-Nar, Orcish Warrior (check in at Ghorak Manor in Caldera)
Harold the Bare, Nordic Knight (check in at Dagon Fel, End of the World Inn)
Din, Redguard ex-Legionnaire (check in at Gnisis)
Zsha-Eel, Argonian Hireling (check Tel Aruhn)
you can specify each to guard only at night, only at day, or all the
time. Days cost least, and will make you guard like you more, nights
will make him like you a little less, but you must pay more, and all
day will make him a little grumpy but you'll need to pay him double.
The Ordinator does his job and won't complain, its just you had to pay
a HUGE donation before getting the Ordinator as a full-time assigned
guard to your place specifically. If you joined them in the mainquest
then you'll get one free if you ask and don;t have any other guard.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After awhile your business partner will ask if you want to help your
business by making deals with the strider-keeper and the sailor at the
Vivec docks. If you do the costs of your supplier will be less. Your
business-partner will suggest getting Flin for the sailor and new
clothes for the strider-keeper. If you get them gifts and listen to
them rant they'll like you, maybe even have you do an errand for them,
and then they'll agree to lower the cost of shipping from your contact.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some time later your partner will ask if you'd like to increase your
popularity by donating money to the Canal Slums. You can do it alone,
or get money from the Temple or the Imperial Chapel in Ebonheart to
help you improve the slums. It really won't do much for the slums, but
your revenue will increase (an indicator of good publicity)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Competition. There will be another store in the Foreign Quarter that
will try to compete with you. First you'll be confronted by your
partner who says he has been getting threatened. When you check out the
compeditor, they make fun of you, telling you to go back to Cyrodiil.
He/she will start passing out pamphlets degrading the name of your
business. You will have to force them to stop. He/she will but will
tell you that it isn't the end of it yet. A hired henchman will later
be found outside your store scaring people away. You tell the local
Ordinator whats up and he'll arrest the henchman. You confront the
compeditor and the same thing happens. Later your business partner will
be at the apothecary and very sick, he had been poisoned and though he
survived, he is very weak. It was a rare poison from a certain lichen
in Black Marsh. You tell the Ordinator who'll go and investigate. Later
you find out that the compeditor got jailed and had been found with a
vial of Lichen Poison.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Booming. The partner now tells you that you can start selling just
about anything, especially artifacts you find in Vvardenfell,
eventually you'll earn the value of the artifact or high end item added
to the monthly profit you'll find in the Earnings Chest.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trouble, your money has gotten the attention of those dirty man-sluts
and gold-diggers. A smooth talking Dunmer man/woman will start trying
to seduce you. If you give in, you'll notice that you're money
frequently gets 'lost'. As the relationship progresses, you'll also be
asked to buy expensive thinga for them. If you let the 'attachment' get
deep enough, there'll be a point where you must choose between the
advice of your partner and your lover. Either you break-up and stop
losing money, or trust your 'lover' to your Market Hall Key and then
all is lost, you'll get smacked in the face by reality and end up
losing all you worked for. However, you can later get vengeance by
killing them, and taking back the deed, the key, and all the money, and
you can talk to the business partner to start-up the store and continue
where you guys left off, though his disposition will be a little less.
Those were my ideas, good?
EDIT:
more quests....
Armed Robbery. An armed robber tries to break in. No one is dead but
your guard is hurt, you heal him and your business-partner says that it
is advisable to hire another guard. You now have the money to do so.
You choose from the same list. You can also have them out at the same
time during the day, both at night, alternating (durinal and
nocturnal), etc. Costs are now double since you have 2 guards.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Expanding the network. Your business partner says that he's been
approached by several other business contacts. You can start buying
goods from your contacts if you can afford it. Eventually you can start
buying from ALL your contacts. Of course whenever you cannot afford
you'll have to drop one, and they will stop selling to you for awhile
until your recuperate your funds.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Commerce Guild, a guild I made up for this purpose, they will actually
be a group from the EEC who decided to break away so as not to be
hindered by some of the moral-codes that the Imperial wants of its
monopolies. The Imperial traders in the Commerce Guild have decided to
snuff out your business before it becomes too powerful in Vivec City.
Your business partner advises that you have only a few choices. As they
live on a ship docked near Ebonheart, you can hire an assassin, you can
hire warriors to ambush a LARGE ebony shipment at sea (near their
ship), or get all the businesses in Vivec City to help band together
with you. Assassination will cost you a lot, but it is a quick easy way
to deal with it, and no one will know. The pirate-raid on their ebony
cargo will scare them away from Vvardenfell but they will not
incriminate you as piracy is common in these waters. Creating a trading
empire will be the hardest but most profitable.
You must go and convince all of your contacts to support you in
regulating prices so that the East Empire Company cannot compete. Some
will require more persuasion... most will agree readily provided they
have incentive (like you pay them a large sum so that they can keep
operating without fear of bankruptcy). Then for a week, ALL prices of
your items and items throughout Vivec City save the more expensive ones
drops by half. The Commerce Guild compeditors cannot compete and they
leave Vvardenfell, and go to Skyrim supposedly. Now you have favorable
prices from your contacts and can sell a little higher to get a higher
profit without fear of losing customers. This post has been edited 2 time(s), it was last edited by KuKulzA: 2007.04.20 15:54.

want to sell you merchandise? Maybe hook with merchants in the city and
set general prices for general goods? |
good ideas! I will add those later when my attention span and energy
are higher, but I'm gonna go sleep soon... so tomorrow I'll update with
more quests! See, this type of thing don't require any faction
affiliation... but you can still have fun quests, NPCs with
personality, and have fun and make septims!
wonderful

no they all deal in skooma and smuggling of people in and out of
Morrowind... the Khajiiti gang comes from a bunch that were all taken
from Torval into slavery, when they broke free, they now smuggle
Khajiits from Elsweyr and back to Elsweyr... the Ash-Scale refers to
the fact many Argonians get greyish/tannish scales after being
overowrked slaves and malnutrition... and also that Vvardenfell is
known for ashlands so they are scaled-people in the ash... "ash-scales"
and they smuggle as well... the Dralor does the same... except they
smuggle people to Vvardenfell without having to go through census &
excise or the records of any Great House
since they all have a similar role they are all competing in the Canal
Slums to bring their countrymen to Vvardenfell or out of Vvardenfell...
and their recent feuding will grab the attention of the Camonna Tong no
doubt |

But I was right at guessing the Gangs right?
Also Gang wars, protection money, extortion, secret HQ? Which Cantons are lucky to hold these 3

they all live in the Canal Slums... they are poor
folks... and instead of being upright Velothi, Khajiiti, or Argonian
citizens they decide to live in the slums... the canals used to be a
clean place where poorest laborers and Gondoliers lived, but now you
got fierce gang-attitude folks running the place, and when you're in
Camonna Tong you get to manipulate them...
sorta like a Chinatown... new immigrants or old immigrants but in a
hostile land, and instead of moving into cleaner places, they are held
their by lack of education, crime, and fear... like most criminal
ghettos and slums and ganglands |
