Wow, that looks great!!! :goodjob:

And you made this whole thing yourself Kielanai?

A few shots? - Kielanai - 06-24-2007

LoL! That's great! I love the bath one. He looks like he's having trouble making himself leave the hot water.

Yes, that is my Akaviri Kojima -- a little island somewhat patterned after places like Matsushima. It was originally meant to be a village, but I discovered I was too close to the end of the game map, so all it has is two homes (a small one and large one for whatever taste you have for your character). I keep thinking of ways to expand it, though, because it is the home I built for my PC Kielanai. So, I do update it when I add things. It's pretty big now and probably will continue to grow little by little as I keep playing. I have had two people ask for companions in it now, but I'm still so new at working with NPC's that I'm not sure I can do that well. But I would definitely like to continue toward my original village idea to have a place that sells "Akavir" foods, magic, weapons, clothing, etc.

I borrowed a few items from Ronin's Snow Dragon Temple, and most of my texture patterns came either from historical prints, antique textiles, or things actually in my home -- the yellow and blue futon in the minka is from my real futon, the black and red sakura pattern scattered on big furniture is from a silk pillow, the dishes are really from my dishes, and the dragon tapestry above the table in the minka is actually a washi kite that I painted, etc. The black and pink chest with the wave design in the minka genkan and mise is actually my kimono from Obon dance last year. ^_^ So, it's a very personal mod. But when searching for Akavir things for Kielanai, I saw how few things were out there for Akavir theme, so I decided to share. So, I'm glad other people have enjoyed Kojima, too.

And fusuma are so nice, ne? I love the old buildings that have them everywhere. The Zuiganji temple we visited Saturday is famous for its gold leaf fusuma, and my two favorite places to admire it was along the right side where the gold fusuma and gold plated Chinese doors were to the right and the sides were open to the garden on the left. And then near the end after going all around there were gold fusuma that were painted with fuji flowing from top to bottom (it's a purple hanging flower that grows everywhere here). I will definitely have to find some way to make my own fuji fusuma! Then again, now that I know that Kodama makes them well ... ^_^

EDIT: Nice pictures DIE 75 :goodjob:

Hello and a couple requests - Flucidity - 06-25-2007

Hi all

I wanted to ask if it's possible to incorporate a few things from this mod into the mod I'm putting together? ( Corthians bows, clothes and some of my textures) Just wanted to use icons for clothes, and maybe some furniture , chests, wall /floor coverings.

- Kodama - 06-25-2007

Kielanai's stuff?
I have no problem with you using her things and icons, but it's up to her to give permission.

I don't mind. - Kielanai - 06-25-2007

I only ask that the credits be given where due.

Clothing meshes are all old kimono meshes Corthian released to the public some time ago. I don't include new items from the Akavir project that have not been public released. The textures I made for those four kimono, I asked to share before including them, but everything else I make for Akavir or Kojima projects will be separate. (Of course Akavir team is welcome to use anything they like from Kojima in this mod.)

There are a number of textures that come from Ronin's Snow Dragon Temple, so if you need to know which are his, just PM me or ask here. In some cases you can tell the difference in the labels because I either left his labels as original or changed them only slightly.

My read-me should have other borrowed textures and meshes listed individually. Smile

Kielanai, i think it would be cool if we could somehow fit your Kojima mod into our Akavir landmass, that way it will be where it belongs... in Akavir =)
But ofcourse this will have to wait for later, when we are ready to do that.
What do you think about that?

That would be great! - Kielanai - 06-29-2007

That way it won't look as lonely as it does now, sitting in the sea outside of Anvil. ^_^

Well, here is my next offering -- the vampire cat story, as promised. This is based on the legend of the "Vampire Cat of Nabeshima" with some additional lore twisted onto the end. As usual, there are multiple versions of this tale, so I have adapted mine to Akavir setting. I left the name of the region and family in parentheses to change to more appropriate choices. "Nabeshima" could stay as a bow to the original tale, if you like, but "Hizen" should probably be a location near mountains somewhere in Akavir. Let me know what you think. I can revise before adding it to final files.

***************

One evening, long ago, the Prince of (Hizen), from the honored (Nabeshima) family, took a stroll through the garden with his favorite concubine, when they realized a cat was following them. That night, when the concubine went to sleep in her room, she was awakened by a large cat with two-tails. It sprang at her throat, killed her, and buried her body beneath the house. Then, it assumed her form.

The prince had no idea that the beautiful woman that made love to him every night was in truth a demon draining his life's blood. In time, the prince's strength dwindled. His face became pale and shrunken. His body became weak and aged. He suffered as if a fatal illness had overcome him, but none of the medicines given by his doctors could heal his ailment.

Since his suffering always seemed to increase overnight, it was arranged for his guards to start standing watch over him in his sleep. But each evening as the moon rose to a certain peak, they also fell asleep. The vampire would then continue to drain the prince's blood, as usual. When the guards could report nothing but a mysterious urge to sleep at the same time each evening, his counselors recognized they were dealing with something unnatural. The task of healing the prince was handed over to the priest.

While the priest was praying for the prince's recovery at the temple, a guard who had served loyaly under the prince, interrupted and volunteered to try once more to resist sleep and watch for the evil spirit. That night, to ward off the drowziness as it started to overcome him, he stabbed his dagger into his own thigh, so that the pain would keep him awake. Later, the brave guard watched the sliding doors open and saw the concubine make her way to the prince's bedside.

Suddenly, she became aware of the hiding guard's presence and called out to him, but the guard stayed hidden. She started to proceed with draining the prince as usual, but knowing she was being watched, she changed her mind and returned to her own room.

The following night, the loyal guard took up his hidden watch once more, and the same thing happened. With only two nights of undisturbed sleep, the prince's health began to return. Again and again, the vampire attempted to feed off of the prince, but she could tell she was being watched and would leave. It soon became clear to the guard that the concubine's behavior was suspect, and he followed her to her chamber, pretending to deliver a message from the prince. As she approached, he struck at her with his dagger, but she sprang away with the agility of a cat. Transforming back to her true form, she ran behind him, leaped to the roof, and escaped into the mountains.

The guard reported his discovery to the priest and the prince. The prince was heartbroken at the loss of his beloved concubine and worried about the vampire's continued existence. When he was fully recovered, he organized a great hunt for the two-tailed cat and found her feeding off of the locals in the mountain village. He was finally able to take his revenge, his enchanted katana struck true, and the vampire cat was destroyed.

Some say the vampire cat became thus because of a terrible tragedy that banished the wife of a former samurai into the body of a cat demon -- that she fed on other samurai and their lords to seek her own vengeance. But others say it was an ordinary cat turned into a vampire when it leaped over a corpse before its proper burial. For it is well-known that cats posses a hidden soul recalling hair, which was passed down to them as a gift from the magic of their mightier kin, the tiger lords. That is how they can live up to nine lives. That is why the people of (Hizen) now take great pains to bind cats or give them to neighbors until after proper burial rights have been given to their dead -- to prevent the cat from stealing the soul of the corpse and turning into vampire, or to prevent it from leaving behind the gift of restored life, turning the corpse itself a vampire. The rememdy, if such a thing should happen, is to immediately use a sharpened pole of sacred bamboo to return the soul to rest when it first rises. If, instead, the corpse grabs a loved one first, a gruesome death at the jaws of the soul returned from the dead is assured.

That's a good story, it will fit in our mod nicely =)

And about fitting Kojima in the Akavir landmass, i have just recovered my long lost heightmap, and i will take a look at it to find a suitable spot for Kojima.

Yay, recovered maps! - Kielanai - 07-05-2007

Does that mean you got a new computer?

I expect Kojima to be located some place like Matsushima's Kanejima, so I can listen to the "bells" as the waves hit the carved rocks. Ha ... ha ... ha ... Yes, I know. Land editing doesn't do those kinds of tricks. ^_^ But that is the perfect place for a bard to live, ne? She won't disturb others playing her taiko all day. Tongue
