In lore it says that there where elves on Yokuda, and that the redguard called them Left-Handed Elves which could of been a shortened version of their actual name(sort of Imperials do with Argoinians names). Anyway more to the point, they would of migrated from Aldmeris at one point, but the question is when and what effect this had on Aldmeris. Also these elves may have returned back to Aldmeris after Yokuda was destoyed by the redguard, and would of probably changed either by evolving or interbreeding with the redguard.

if we made a new race out of this, they would most likely live in the north west of Aldmeris, close to Yokuda. They would probably be very prone to war as they would of constantly warred with the redduard when on Yokuda and would probably be even more like that if they interbred with them.

This could even tie into the main quest of the mod, or at least a nice big side job.

maybe they had been living nomadically since Yokuda's destruction, searching for a suitable new homeland, traveling during the summer months on a huge fleet, and temporarily setting up on islands during the winter, subsisting on fish and whatever they can find on the islands.
Then, after generations of this lifestyle, they found the land they were looking for; Aldmeris. And, obviously, the natives aren't too keen on letting them in.

A fleet of an entire race would not of been at sea for generations, they would of found aldmeris under a month at at sea. Also they would of already known where it was.

Not necessarily. What makes you think they could even REACH Aldmeris in a month from Yokuda, assuming they did know where it was? Besides, if none of the mer on Tamriel know where Aldmeris is, why would you assume that the Left-Handed elves did if they'd already lived on Yokuda for quite some time?
