(Community Council » Visual Claims » Object models) High Rock Flora |
|
I have some ideas for plants to be added once the height map is done.
I'd like to submit them here to keep a record, so the team can approve
or reject them as they come up.
Please let me know what you think and feel free to suggest your own
flora types or adjustments to those that already exist in game.
(E.G. Variations on existing TES 4: Oblivion plants to save modelling time and effort.)
I place this thread under visual claims since they will require art
creation to use. If it qualifies for a different category, don't
hesitate to move it to where it should go.
My first item is a new mushroom for use as an alchemic ingredient as follows:
Concept Flora Part 1: Breton Ink Cap
Commonly Found In: Cool ,damp locations, (valleys, lakes at lower elevation, mixed coniferous and deciduous forests)
Proposed Alchemic Properties: Resist shock, damage health, damage endurance, shield
Harvested Portion: Mushroom cap only.
Native Uses: Inks and dyes, alchemy
Source/Inspiration: Common Ink Cap Mushroom
Notes: Ink cap in real life is a common variety of mushroom.
There are likely many variations on it, so a variety of this could grom
in many places and might have different properties, based on where it's
found.
In TES terms, there could easily be Nord, Elswyr and Black Marsh
variations, if those provinces wanted them. If not, it could simply be
native to High Rock.

Um, one thing though, it should be one thread per object to keep things clean and easy to track, ok?
So each time you want to put a claim, start a new thread.

Makes sense. I had wondered about a second thread, but didn't know if
that would be wasteful or not. Now that I know, I'll post any new items
in that way.
Should I reproduce one of the two entries here in a seprate thread? If so, just let me know which one.
Finally, I have all of the image files archived. I'm have a document
going in Word with all of these concepts for reference (and sanity's)
sake which is updated as new items are posted. I'll delete any excess
entries, based on feedback from the team.
If it's ever needed, it will be there, in the same entry format,
pictures and all. (I can convert it to pdf at will, if that's better.)

You can seperate whichever of the objects you wish into a seperate thread.

Would you have any use for a flower like the one in the attached image? (if not, no worries)
It used to be the Willow Flower over at Silgrad Tower but was cut since
I made one that looked more like a willow flower should. It's rather
heavy in terms of facecount, but I don't think that would matter much
in a generated wilderness setting.

Thank you!
I was wondering: Could post some ideas on what the suggested plant
properties are in-game, along with the type of terrain and climate it
prefers? |
Okidoki, here is the archive:

I included the max files if they can be of any use. You'll need to
change the texture paths through NifSkope to where you want to place
the textures. As for credits, the models and leaf and petal textures
were created by me (I modifed pictures I googled), the stamen texture
is from either Morrowind Visual Pack or Vibrant Morrowind, and the stem
texture is probably something I googled too. The normal maps were
created by noremorse.
A shortcut could be to say it's just a normal flower and use it as a static ambience plant.
As for terrain and climate... hmm... well if you ask me I think it
looks like it would prefer a warm, temperate climate and fertile soil,
kinda like the Ascadian Isles were on Vvardenfell. A "pleasant and
peaceful" climate, so to speak. That could be just me though.

Thank you R.W.
Sounds like this plant would prefer the warmer climates of
south-western and south-central High Rock to me. Likely along the
Bjoulsae and around the Daggerfall coast.
