The Knights of the Rose ? A Brief Overview of Recent History
As penned by a scribe from the court of Vermeir.
Since our Great Queen Elysana took the throne, the Knights of the Rose
have undergone a number of noticeable changes. During the waning years
of our Late King?s reign, a darkness was stirring in the Order,
claiming that they had unwavering loyalty to our former Sovereign King,
Eadwyre ? more unwavering than even ours.
In those days, our Order was known as the Knights of the White Rose.
Wayrest was but a small gem in the Iliac Bay, rather than the grand
treasury that it has become. However, when the Lord Sovereign took on
Lady Barenziah as his wife, some within our Order grew fearful of the
possibility that there would be a Dark Elf heir. These were those who
would doubt our Lady Elysana.
Their worries were quelled for a time when Helseth and his mother were
expelled, due to Lady Morgiah?s wisdom in politics being granted to our
Queen (as political finesse is, perhaps, the most astounding advantage
of the Dark Elves, Morgiah being greatest among them). However, when
she made her infinitely bountiful decision to ally our proud Kingdom
with Orsinium, these men would again shake the foundations of our Order.
The Knighthood fractured, the traitors holding tight to the name of
?Knights of the White Rose,? while our True Order took on the title of
?Knights of the Rose.? At the forefront of the treasonous event was
Lord Woodborne, a long-time leader of the Order who believed himself
more suited to the throne than our Queen. An open rebellion ensued as
Lord Darkworth took command of the Knights of the Rose, and the
traitorous ones were swiftly shown that our Knighthood was as powerful
as the orcs with which we were allied. The Knights of the White Rose
would pass into history, and be replaced by our divine Order.
To this very day, Lord Darkworth remains at the forefront of our
efforts to defend against the transgressions of Daggerfall, as he
reigns over the city of Vermeir. Lord Woodborne was first replaced by
Lord Thrend, and subsequently by his son, Lord Volundrer, who, along
with Darkworth, holds the title of Knight Lord of the Rose.
