Ok today I was waiting for a train when I started thinking about High
Rock. Note before I procede, I did not read any lore abouyt HR
specifcally nor your forum
But well these are just some ideas I had:
Ok How I view HR, I see the landscape mostly as Scotland mixed with
Romenia. Lots of hills, rain, and grass. I imaging lots of sheeps in
meadows in the lower parts of HR. Much more then you see in CD. I think
horses are also very common in the lowlands, in the mountains you
mostly just encounter rogues and bandits with use the caves as hideouts.
HR is devided in citystates right? Well I know quite a bit about the
ancient greek citystate/goverment systems, so I dug around a bit with
what I could come up with. I created 5 different govermentforms, could
be used by the 5 biggest cities.
- 5 aristrocratic families, work together in a counsil
- 2 royal families of which one king is elected each 10 years.
- A small counsil (15 men) in which you can only acquire a place by having enough property and wealth (theocracy)
- A council of the wise, mostly old mages.
- 1 royal family with a king supported by 5 councilors choosen from 5 noblefamilies. One from each familiy.
Ok besides Breton we got Orcs in HR. the best information we have about
the origin of the orcs is taht Boethia ones punished an army of Altmer
and cursed them to become the first Orcs. But Bretons are very font of
Ayleids, they helped them fight the Nord invasion taht was send to free
the enslaved men(Breton). So I figure they can't see that Elfs are the
origin of Orcs. And after numerous wars I think they still hate the
orcs as much as the Dunmer hate the Imperials. So I figure they don't
life together either, but in seperate towns and communities. The Orcs
have a more indutrialised community. They're smiths after all, but a
large group of them still life by the old ways of tribal and war.
Ok most of my ideas are related to war an battles etc. So since the
Bretons are very good mages I think you'll find lots of Paladins, maybe
also lots of Orders of Knights? Just an idea. But war, well I see the
Bretons using a lot of Forts, build near the orcs, in the south near
Hammerfell and North(east) towards Skyrim. I think Bretons have,
considering the citystates lots of fortified towns, villages and cities.
Weapons: weapons favoured by the Bretons I think 1 handed axes, maces and swords, in combination of a shield.
Armor: I see Bretons as early to mid Dark ages. As armor they use lots
of mail and some pieces of platearmor. Only high guards, royal garde
etc use full platearmor.
Magic: I imaging a lot of use of magic in combat, so lots of battlemages, and the paladins
That's all for now, I know it's a bit chaotic

Wow, thats allot to take in. Most of the lore I don't know, but I do
know there will be knight orders. I like the ideas for different
governments, but we will have to check with lore. *Yawns* sorry, I'm
tired, my sister kept me up last night.

I mentioned it before, but I think HR can become different from your
ordinairy fantasy medieval setting if we dig into their history with
the Ayleids

perhaps devling into Dirennei, Ayleids, and Orcish culture might bring
some exotic flavor into the otherwise
"knight/noble/peasant/mae/paladin"-style of High Rock you mean? |

Ok, I'm less tired now, so I can think.
If I remeber corectly every city-state thing will have a knightly order.
With those Alied structures you mentioned in the other thread, maybe we
can make it to fit in lore like they were just recently discovered and
maybe have a side quest line to them. That should work. Hmmm.... Orcish
culture.... I think that falls under KuKulzA's category
.

Btw I just remembered I think in HR there many, many MG's but there not
strong. Since so many Breton are wizards etc they do lots of
freelancing. The MG can't control it
I say MG is more a place the nobles, less for the commoners, the witches and medicinmens etc

Very true. We can have mages running around in the wilderness hunting deer!
Maybe if you want to join the mages guild there you have to prove nobility or wealth. Or just be very strong.

Hmm.... I like it.... I like it alot! We will need to work on that more
(of coarse) but that is really good. Here is a link to the current Mage's Guild thread. Assassination, I think that would be fun
, But we can maybe have it so if you are a member of the Dark Brotherhood, it could be some other group (maybe also joinable?).

Maybe not a count doing it, but a high up member, maybe the leader
himself! That way you won't have the count thinking of you as a
son/daughter, and adds a little unique twist.

Well I say it's a nobleman who doens't like a filthy peasant getting
this important. So he hires some DB assasins to kill you
He could be the father of a high ranking memeber you just passed.

Maybe. But, if you are in the DB, make it whatever faction it is that
tries to kill that guy in the DB quest line. The quest where you have
to bring him back to life.

Sorry, my fault. I just reread it and I don't understand either. What I
was saying was that if you are in the DB you won't get assassinated by
them. I was thinking that in the quest from DB where you have to fake
the murder and later bring him back to life, maybe the faction that
wanted the guy dead would be the one hired to assassinate you.

Or not, it's dangerous to let different questlines intervine with eachotehr and besides the DB does kills members for cash
But I'm goihng to bed, so I'll reply in 6-7 hours
