Important - How to Post and Accept Claims |
|
This announcement is to outline the structure and posting method for
claims in High Rock. First claim types are listed, followed with a
method for offering, approval and acceptance of new claims as they
arise. We will add new claim types or adjust the existing ones as
needed, so don’t hesitate to offer suggestions in the Tavern area of the forums!
Claim Types
At them moment, the Claims section is divided up into the following main areas:
Art Claims – Concept, 2D and 3D art
Creature Claims - meshes, animations, inventory items, combat values in the CS and magical abilities and for monsters and NPCs
Exterior Claims - Landscaping, cities, towns, settlements and dungeon exteriors
Interior Claims - dungeons, buildings, caves and so forth
Scripting Claims – scripts for objects, NPC’s, quests and so on
Sound Claims - sound effects, creature sounds, music and spoken dialogue
Text Claims – books, literature, broadsheets, readable scrolls, in-game quest dialogues and messages
Note: combination claims are possible, so feel free to suggest them. An example (and a partial claim spoiler for the future
):
Example: Scripting and Creature Claim - Rowboat
We would like to see rowboats usable in the mod. To do this we need the following:
a) The script to govern the boat's navigation and collision detection.
b) A sitting and/or rowing animation for the player's avatar while in the boat.
Claiming Method
At present two main methods exist:
1. First, the team will add claim announcements, which will
consist of what the claim is, suggested content to go into it and any
resources we have available to be used if desired. Once we have granted
a claim to a modder, we will indicate it in the claim thread by the
green check mark (
).
2. Alternately, if you want to suggest a claim you can post it
here, so long as you do your best to follow the format for clarity and
ease of reference for everyone. As with the first method, we will
indicate claim approval via the checkmark method.
Claim File Names
The basic format for a claim will look like this:
HRK_[region]_[claim name]_Idnumber
Region: This is scale dependent for an exterior thus it can be a
city, geographical feature or an area. Interiors are prefixed with
“Int” and followed by the location name. If a claim is something that
will be in general use right across the province, it will be prefixed
with "HR".
Claim Name: This identifies what the claim itself actually is.
ID Number: This is a 6 digit number (beginning with “000001”)
assigned by a core team member (usually Gyssar or Braggi at the
moment).,This number is universal to the entire province regardless of
claim type. In other words, the claim number is for us to track by for
merging into the mod's master ESM. Thus, when you want to start work on a claim file, ask for the claim number! (This way, you don't have to worry about keeping track what of the number is - the tracking is the the core team's headache.
)
Some examples of possible finished claim file names to get the idea across:
a) Claim for the first of a series of re-textured rocks to be used in the Illessan Hills:
HRK_IllessanHills_Rock01_000096
Note: 0000096 indicates that this is the 96'th claim created for the project as a whole.
b) Claim for a monster which will appear in leveled lists right across the province:
HRK_Generic_Harpy_000361
Note:Iin this case the ID number indicates that this is the 361'st claim created for the project as a whole.
c) Claim for the throne room for the interior of Castle Daggerfall:
HRK_IntDaggerfall_ThroneRoom_0002621
Note: In this case the ID number shows that this is 2,622'nd claim created for the HR project as a whole.
Claim Post Format in the Forums
1. We would like to keep each claim encapsulated in a single thread, wherever possible. Please title the thread with the claim type.
Example: Sound Claim – Harpy Sounds
2. Give a description of the claim if you are suggesting a new
one, or if you are accepting a team-posted claim, please give us an
idea you would like to add to it.
Example (Team post): Sounds are needed for the Harpy, including
combat screams, attack sounds, and idle sounds. The sounds are to fit
the harpy we are developing from the LadyImp resource created by
vitalikkk from TESNexus. (Resource link posted here.)
3. Describe or request any resources you may need or have to
add. Attach items where possible, keeping them with Silgrad Tower’s
file size limits. Outside links are also a great idea for larger files.
Example (From a responding modder): I have a recording of an
eagle’s call that I can adapt to fit the Harpy sound claim. Here is a
sample of it that I have reworked. (Place link to sound file here or attach the file if it is within the files size limit.)
4. As the claim progresses, please keep your progress reports
and/or change logs in the thread so we can all find it easily and
quickly. This will be especially helpful when R/L gets busy or you need
to take a modding sanity break (which happens to all of us!).
Hopefully this will keep us all on track and allow the modding to
proceed with a maximum of clarity. We want your input! Remember, if you
have a suggestion about the claim method or structure, please make it
in the Tavern. (Note: Accidentally mis-posted structure suggestion threads can be moved, but we ask you to avoid this. Thank you!)
